Take some time on the docks to get comfortable with the controls. Speak with a few of the NPCs who are taking a break from life on the sea. Once you're ready to start your adventure beyond the docks, speak with Hob. He'll offer you the choice to remain on the docks or to continue into the city. When you speak with Hob, select "Shapeless Melody" to initiate your first quest.
Guilds
Limsa Lominsa is home to a Marauder's, Culinarian's, Blacksmith's, Armorer's and Fisher's Guilds.
Be sure to check out these guild halls for all your class needs.

Notable NPCs
There is a plethora of non-player characters living in Limsa Lominsa. What follows are some of the more notable of those characters to help you in getting started.
Quest-related and Guldleve NPCs will typically be your starting point for some of the major quests while the vendors are a good place to check should you be looking for arms or tools for other classes.

Guildleves
Guildleves are broken into several versions. Battlecraft are for Disciples if War and Disciples of Magic, fieldcraft are for Disciples of the Land and local leves are for Disciples of the Hand.
While local leves usually can be completed without stepping foot into the wilds, Other guildleves will require players to step into the wilds and take on dangerous tasks.

Vendors
If the city you're in doesn't have a guild hall for your class of choice, or if you're looking for some items with which to craft, these NPCs may be a good place to start. Most listed below sell items that can be used by cfrating classes, along with the items necessary to begin a new class.

Weapons
If you're looking to switch to a new melee or magic class, Thundersquall Thundersticks should be your destination. You can find it on the Upper Level south of the Adventurer's Guild. These vendors only sell weathered, basic versions of the weapons needed for each class, but they'll be enough to get you through the first few ranks.

Finding the markets
Square-Enix has managed to hide the Market Ward. With no auction house, this is your main means of shopping around for new wares and other items for sale by players through their non-playable retainers.
To get there, go to the area circled in yellow on the map and move until you see a speech bubble with an exclamation point. When you see this, it means there is something nearby with which you may interact.
Open your menu and select the Market Ward option at the top. You will be given a choice of multiple wards, select your desired ward and start shopping!
In order to see what wares a retainer has on bazaar, target one, open your menu again and where you selected the Market Ward option earlier, you will now see a "browse" option.
