Melee
Melee is used to describe any damage dealt that is not considered ranged.
It can be used in the context describing a class which deals mostly close-range damage:
Witch Elves are a melee class.
or to indicate the range from which a character attacks:
Shadow Warriors want to say out of melee range to shoot effectively.
or even to indicate the range of a spell:
This boss has a melee-range AoE you need to watch out for!
