In Star Wars: The Old Republic, the galaxy is rich with valuable resources, high-tech schematics, and intriguing opportunities, but what hero has time to devote themselves personally to so many pursuits? That's where your crew comes in. The Crew Skills system allows you to take advantage of everything the galaxy has to offer without getting in the way of your adventure! You'll assign your crew of companions to gather resources, craft useful and valuable items, and even to undertake their own missions, bringing you and the rest of the crew a variety of benefits and rewards. Crew skills keep you in the action while you take advantage of all the galaxy has to offer!
You may learn only one Crafting skill, and a total of three Crew Skills. See Companions for more information about Crew Management.
NOTE: Each companion can be instructed to craft up to five items but can only be sent on a single Mission. The items will be crafted sequentially without further instruction from you. Your companion will inform you when he has completed all assigned tasks, not each one individually. If you do not have enough inventory space to hold all the product you told him to make your companion will mail the item to you.
| Crafting | Gathering | Mission | Rare Dependencies | Class Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Armormech | Scavenging | Underworld Trading | Investigation | Smuggler, Trooper, Bounty Hunter, Imperial Agent |
| Armstech | Scavenging | Investigation | Smuggler, Trooper, Bounty Hunter, Imperial Agent | |
| Artifice | Archaeology | Treasure Hunting | Jedi Knight, Jedi Consular, Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitor | |
| Biochem | Bioanalysis | Diplomacy | all | |
| Cybertech | Scavenging | Underworld Trading | Slicing (for tech schematics) | Smuggler, Trooper, Bounty Hunter, Imperial Agent |
| Synthweaving | Archaeology | Underworld Trading | Jedi Knight, Jedi Consular, Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitor | |
| Slicing | all (for mission discoveries) | all |
- Slicing provides vehicle schematics for Cybertech.
- Investigation also provides schematics for all crafting skills as well as rare materials for medium armor (Armormech).
- All Mission skills can provide Companion Gifts.
Companions
Each Companion will have two bonuses that affect Crew Skills which will be of one of the following types:
- Efficiency - +5, +10, or +15. This is a speed bonus to crafting. This does not appear to effect gathering/harvesting speed.
- Critical - +1, +2, or +5. Critical in crafting means that you will either craft additional items, or if you are making gear, it will come with an augment slot. Augments are obtained by Slicing, but are generally dirt cheap on the auction house. Critical in missions will net you additional items, and rare rewards (such as epic crafting materials or rare schematics). Again, critical does not appear to effect gathering skills.
