Analysis
Blunt damage is one of the three types of physical damage. This damage usually corresponds to punches, kicks, or blows with blade-less weapons.
Weapon Types
The following weapons and their physical weapon skills deal blunt damage.
- Hand-to-Hand - Weapons such as the Cesti, Retaliators, and Faith Baghnakhs
- Staves - Weapons such as the Gelong Staff, Wind Staff, and Kinkobo
- Clubs - Weapons such as the Brass Rod, Blessed Hammer, and Kraken Club
Pets and Pet Abilities
- Avatar melee attacks deal blunt damage. In addition, the following bloodpacts deal blunt damage.
- Diabolos - Camisado
- Fenrir - Moonlit Charge
- Leviathan Tail Whip
- Ramuh - Shock Strike, Chaotic Strike
- Shiva - Axe Kick, Rush
- Titan - Rock Throw, Rock Buster, Megalith Throw, Mountain Buster
- Dragoon wyverns deal blunt physical damage with their melee attacks.
- Automatons equipped with the Harlequin Frame or Stormwaker Frame deal blunt damage with their physical attacks.
Exceptions
- Vampiric Claws - Melee attacks deal slashing damage.
- Physical weaponskills performed using the Vampiric Claws will still deal blunt damage.
- Birdbanes - Melee attacks deal piercing damage.
- Physical weaponskills performed using the Birdbanes will still deal blunt damage.

Immune to Blunt
- Metalloid Amoeba - Appears on the 1st floor of Southeast Apollyon
- Ghost Clot - Appears on the 1st floor of Southeast Apollyon
- Jailer of Temperance - Immune to blunt damage when its bars or when its rings are out.
- Energetic Eruca - Immune to slashing and blunt damage. However, due to being a sub-class of blunt damage, it is not immune to hand-to-hand damage.
Special Notes
- When used on Undead type mobs, the White Magic spell Banish reduces the damage resistance for melee attacks.
- The Warrior merit job ability Tomahawk will temporarily reduce all forms of damage resistance that a mob possesses.
