There are many different potions that replace Mana (MP). Most replace an amount immediately and then a fraction of the instant amount every 2 seconds for 30 seconds. These are called Heal Over Time (HOT) potions. The second, rarer, type heals a large amount instantly. Instants usually heal more compared to HOT potions of the same level but if the amount healed is more than you need the extra is wasted, while HOTs repair the damage as it is still coming in, tending to waste less.
