I had " a raging bloodgill goblin " dark blue to level 61. It popped inbetween the stairs at entrance and hit me for maximum 137. He dropped a " Bloodgill cap" AC14; (str, Dex, Wis, Agi) +5; HP +65; Mana+60; Endurance +60; (SvF, SvM) +5; required level 50; useable by all races and RNG, ROG, SHM and BER. Is Magic and Lore

The "a raging bloodgill goblin" appears when one of the regular goblins is aggroed, typically right near the entrance floor. I have experimented with several pulls and if you pull them back, he is unlikely to appear.
If you see him on the right side (gate at your back) near a pile of rocks, someone else spawned him and either died or ran away.
He also drops:
Bloodgill Shaman's Effigy
Slot: Range
Effect: Truesight (Worn)
Str +5, Sta +5, Cha +5, Agi +5, HP +70, MANA +70, END +70
SV FIRE +5, SV COLD +5
Recomended level 55. Required level 50

Hi
Merchants pay about 475 plat for the cap, by the way.
I believe this relates to the following commentary from eq on the new experience zone revamps:
"The first and most obvious source of items in the new zones are the new named NPCs to be found in all of the Hot Zones. Some zones have more new named npcs than others but each zone should have at least one new npc. These NPCs have brand new drops that should be a bit more level appropriate for current day EverQuest than some of the items that might drop elsewhere in the zone and are older.
"The second source of items are global rare items. A number of the Hot Zones have new global rares. In some zones nearly any NPC can drop these items. In other zones the global rares are restricted by race so only certain types of NPCs drop these items.
"The final loot mechanism I used in the Hot Zones is something new I came up with for these zones - feedback is welcome! I did something I call the "Call for Help" mechanic. Basically it works like this....
"Some (not all!) npcs in the Hot Zones will, during combat, realize they are in trouble and are not going to win. If they decide to call for help at this point a new NPC will spawn somewhere nearby. This NPC will be the same race as what you're fighting but will be just a little bit stronger. This new NPC will then run over and, well, start hitting you. Obviously a new NPC hitting you isn't fun so the up side to this is that the new NPC is a Named npc with loot that essentially spawned just for you and your group.
"The chance of this happening is about the same as the chance to get one of the global rare drops found in the Hot Zones.
"I'm hoping that this will add a bit of excitement and danger to normal experience grinding while offering a chance at some nice items in the process."
My group and I experienced this 3 times; got the cap of the Raging Bloodgill Goblin each time. And yes, each time they were an "add."

does anyone else find it odd, that Veksar, with quite a few already good drops, does not have ANY fabled? I mean.. It's on Kunark, which is where all the new fabled are.. but... there are none? just strange. Please don't flame me :)
Link to this post 1 reply
Simple, Veksar is a pretty new zone, it didn't exist when Kunark was released five years ago. So when Kunark was the end game there was no Veksar to farm. Most Fables are mobs that were insanely contested when that era was the top end. (Except the Fabled Fippy Darkpaw off course.)
I so, so, so look forward to next year's fables. The Fabled Aaryonar! *roar* The Fabled Avatar of War, the Fabled Derakor the Vindicator, The Fabled Wunshi, The Fabled Foreman Smason and what not. :)

nm, was marked on MapFiend map as Hiero, not hero. Was short for Hierophant, my bad ;-)
Yesterday, 3-22-2005, I came back to Veksar to wander the zone in search of words of misery. As a lvl 70 (mostly Time geared) Necro, I found that I could solo anything I came across. I did find a mob that is not in the mob list though.. "an Ancient ____" Don't remember exactly what it was.. conned even to me at 70 though and there are no lvl 70 mobs listed. Soloed it, but it took a while, and took me down to about 45 mana to do it. all it dropped was an "Aged piece of meat" anyone have a clue as to what this is for?

Yes, ever since new patch with DoN, pets do get stuck. I too have /bugged it and also have to summon my pet. I don't have to suspend it though. I hit back first, then summon it. Not sure if that will help you or not.
Update: Collision detection fixed. Pets of any size will not get stuck anymore.

Hello Veksar inhabitants,
I'm long time Veksar regular but took a break to get 70, then do factioning in WoS zones. Now after a couple of months I'm back and notice very irritating bug. My pet gets stuck in certain places and I have to summon him to me constantly.
Then running from kitchen over to crusader area my pet gets stuck in the fire place since hes too tall, but I'm used to that. Normally he'll eventually warp through the other side. Now I have to summon him everytime, which really isnt that big of a deal. However I run to the corner behind crusader spawn, get my pet there with me and send him to attack the mob, but he instead jets off straight to wall and through far opening, without engaging mob. I call him back and he's instantly with me, not pathing back from where I saw him run to. He will do this over and over, the ONLY way for me to solve it is to suspend him and bring him back. Then he will engage mob as instructed.
I'll probably be back there soon and see if it continues, then /bug it. But I wanted to see if anyone else was having the same/similar problems.

I have seen the little bag spawn in numerous locations. Bath, top of west church stairs, under bridge between theatre-monk area, in hand house toward tunnels, next to highborn tree, in highborn circle room and heard it spawned in theatre too.
Not sure where else it spawns, this is just where I have seen em.

Are there any maps? I have one of the zone, but I can't find one with anything listed as to what is where. The link in this zone's info doesn't work. Surely there's one out there someplace by now...?

the an asteatotic highborn is for the ranger epic 1.5 and the Decaying Lord Galuk Drek is for the warrior epic 1.5, both are easy- Lord has a rather nice ae dot with stat decrease (trying running when you have -1 str) like 4 casts of WoReplen cures it. The ancient nobleman is always up it seems but no clue what he is for, Druid epic is suppose to have them looking for a anceint noble i thought but all say it's not him- so go figure! They only drop quest loot so far!

Found another new mob in here today - sure wish they had a way to add new mobs....
anyhow its called "an asteatotic highborn"
hits for like 496 quad at times. He dropped:
Asteatotic Veksar Blood
Lore No Drop
All/All
I assume its another epic mob drop. I found him in the room with the stairs that lead to remains of sythrax - he was in the back right corner behind the stairs.

There is a way to add new mobs (and, if you look closely, you will see that quite a few OoW mobs have already been added). I'm not 100% it works the same way with mobs (since they are part of Illia's site, and not part of allakhazam), but items can certainly be sent to allakhazam@allakhazam.com along with screen shots (cropped and in .jpeg or .gif format).
If allakhazam@allakhazam.com doesn't work, try emailing Illia.
Asteatotic Highborn seems to be part of the new Ranger Epic.

Not sure how to make a post to create a new mob for a zone so I'll just note him here
Tracking a "ancient nobleman" red con to a 66
He is located under the stairs that lead up to behind the stage area where you get bones for dragon spawn or go the other way on ramp and go in grandmaster upper area. He is little versus other mobs looks like a regular nobleman but small and is indifferent and didn't respond to hails.

Part of Monk epic 2.0 quest. Needed to make Kaiaren his sandwich.
Veksar is a nice place for solo farming with a 65 Shaman, as well. We lack Invis to Undead, but we can make stacks of IVU potions fairly cheap. With bazaar level gear and 130AA, it works fine to solo even the level 63 highborn commander and loot dropping nameds (don't think I would try the level 65 Sythrax named though...), or breaking rooms like the shopkeeper or sad slave that initially require you to agro two mobs.
Root, pet and spirit call are your friends for breaking rooms. Slow usually sticks without Malos, but on some mobs it is worth it to Malos to avoid resists on Bane.
I just Q-tank the mobs and burn em down with Bane, Anathema and epic. Poison and disease are all resisted on the undead, so you need Bane for sure to have any efficiency here.
It is a fun place for me anyway because there is some sellable loot or stuff for alts, and some of the mobs are tough enough that you can easily die if slow is resisted and you are not ready to deal with emergencies.

Slifer,
Posted: Jul 12th 2004 2:33am, Score: Sub-Default, [expand] 65 bst, all 65 spells, getting new ele gear as days go by, but my question is can I solo here? What camps? I'm really trying to go here for a cash crop.. also, how would a 65 bst/necro duo do here? My friend farms here and I figure we can duo since he invites me. Currently leveling my druid bot who will be 65 soon enough(got him to 48 in 3 days of about 6 hours a day) so if I get druid to 65, how much easier will it become? Thanks
Found a new mob on track... Decaying Lord Galuk Drek. Lvl 65 necro mob that looks just like 95% of the other mobs in zone... the undead ones. When you get to the Decaying Slavemaster spawn, you enter from the hallway and go left...there is 1 room to the left and a mob straight ahead. This is the way to the sewers =) Anyways, if you look in the room to the left there is a spawn... either a hand or an undead mob like a wraith. In that room to the back left corner was this mob. He resisted deaths silence, then tried to cast a spell but I got off 2nd cast before then and it stuck. Then he preceeded to resist Shackle of Spirit twice then stuck on 3rd cast. So I then pull with Saryn's Kiss cause I am not sure just HOW hard he is gonna hit me and mez breaks and I send pet in asap... I also had a 65 druid bot backing me up =P He hit for a max of 656 and that was rare.. mostly hit for 200-300ish but with Virt on and chain nuking while druid healed me when needed he was NO problem. BTW he conned Indif to me and didnt' answer when I hailed him. He dropped some UBER loot.... nothing.... SIGH =P Hadesspawn told me he is prolly for some quest and I bet he is right =) Will try to remember to post an update if I find anything out =)

Maybe entrance mobs until the ramp with the undeads, but not further, fyi you can't use the horses/drogmors there, its indoor.

im a 55 shaman with around 2k HP and 250 WIS with a horse. could i hunt here now or at what lvl do i need to wait till.

Veksar is an indoor zone, so no horse here. I wouldn't try to solo, the stuff here has ALOT of hps, and as cool as Dogdog is, it will take a LONG time to kill most things (quadding 60 a hit). Grab a melee partner and you could do prolly the first 1/2 of zone without much difficuly. I duo with 65 pally / 65 shaman through the entire zone. I soloed the shaman up to 60 (not here... I did 52-59 in Katta Castellum killing snobby human guards), so I know his limits.

Anybody have any idea on the HP on these mobs? I Usally hunt the undead in UP and they have on average 15 to 20K HP and it takes 3-4 minutes per fight with me and a 65 shammy.
I was hoping the old'world zones (if this is classified as such) have lower HP's. Much easier to limit the battles to 2-3 mins or less.
Anyway, I plan to go into this zone soon. Have to get my zerker up to 60 first.. zerker is fun to play.
Thanks,

Posting from d.eckard@comcast.netThe mobs in this zone have high hps. When you zone in, kill a goblin... you will see what I mean. I also used to hunt the skels in UP (SU3 paladin with 65 shaman); many mobs here have higher hps... probably closer to 25k. A 5155 Slay knocks off about 18% from the biggest ones (highborn commanders and noble crusader, level 63). The other undead range in the 20k area; the revenant / wraith ones and the ones before the shop dropoff are in the 12k-15k range. You will learn fairly quickly which mobs are nasty casters (the sks have a vicious tendency to FEAR, which would be hard if they didn't summon you back instantly when it wears off). One word of warning; avoid the sewers... ever since Directx9 came into effect, all of Veksar has holes in the world that drop you to the entrance... the sewers are the worst for it. I have fallen through the floor, summoned into walls, and fallen through walls. Despite the coding irritations, I think you will love this zone, especially with your super intelligent combo!

Before you hit the highborn area, mobs in the shopkeeper / golem / ballroom area will have 8-10k hp, depending on the mob type. Mobs like vessels, primalists, nihilists hit in the low 200s, around 208-214. 200+ in resists and most spells aren't an issue except the fire based dots from nec/sk mobs.

lostet,
Posted: Aug 25th 2004 4:45pm, Score: Sub-Default, [expand] gedie, just dont post. tho a necro may have an easyer time soloing in here, i was here with a druid friend of mine , level 59 ( who wanted to try and solo in here ). so i let him try it and he soloed all the way back to the golem spawns before i got ancy and got back in the group, he had next to no problems. im a warrior and i like to solo ( yes, 65 warrior can solo in here if smart, we have discs to save us if needed that will kill almost any single mob in here, other than the dragon and that sytix dude).
This is not a zone conducive to droods for soloing. Everything summons and nothing here you can charm. Besides the fact that you have no invisU to get past the 20 mobs to get to the decent named drops.
Only necros can solo named safely here, and they have to be high at that. With DC, our slow, heals and dots, necros own Veksar. Take your drood outdoors =P.

I would have to disagree with Gedie, as a 65 mage, with Rathes Son soloing here is cake. This is not a necro only place =)

You may be able to solo some things here as a mage, but you have several factors against you:
1) You have to fight many many mobs to even get to the desirable areas (Shop, Church, Chef, Slaves, Highborn etc) because you have no invis undead.
2) I would IMAGINE you have a very hard time breaking camps like Shop, as there are 3 mobs that even a level 65 can't single pull. You have no mez, lull, charm or root. (Shop drops the most lucrative item in veksar, soulscream belt that sells for 25-30k and sells in an instant)
3) You have NO slow spell to keep up with the dps of mobs at shop and beyond the dropoff. They hit MUCH harder and faster than mobs near the entrance.
4) You have no self heal spell where if you ever get agro, you're gonna be nome-mush cus these mobs hit hard, fast and the casters nuke and dot hard as well.
Until you can come back here and give proof (and by that I mean explaining the above 4) that you could solo the entire zone (which necros can) than don't say soloing here is cake for a mage, cuz I'm 99% sure that there's no way you solo all thru veksar.
Now, if you are a Time equipped mage (or have 300+ AA), then that's one thing, you might just mow thru these. But 99% of the people reading this aren't time geared, so don't even go there. I soloed here at 65 with zero AA, geared with stuff pre-luclin, only 3-4 pieces SS armor. THAT is the difference between necro and mage here, we are designed for undead, you are not 8).

Not really a place to solo either unless you can slow as well. Or have a good tank/healer combo.
So far in my experirnce everything past the goblins at the entrance summon.

Ok I camp the remains alot and something that always bothers me is the room across. Most of the time there is 3 insane guys and 1 Highborn Noble. Theres alot of chanting and such coming from this room. My question is does anyone know if there is a event or something to do with this room
Any maps for this place? I could not find anything on EQ Atlas. And I am assuming this is an all underwater zone so you need an EB item to be down there.

could a 54 druid solo the entrance for the weapons?

Yes, you would probably be able to kill the Bloodgills at the entrance.
There is a mob on the shores of LOIO that gives the whole story. Basically LOIO used to be a place for Iksar to go to relax. Basically it was a bathhouse for the rich. The Dragon Garudon was smote from the air and crashed into the bathhouse sinking it and trapping everyone inside.
I may not have all the details correct, but that is the gyst of it.

Atrebe, Rile’s first-hatched son, then became King. This young Iksar was different from his father. He was reclusive and enamored of the dark arts. All feared his use of the evil magic of the Shissir and his grandfather, Sathir. His foul experiments joined a dragon with an Iksar, creating the Sarnak, a race of intelligent Dragon-men. He also joined a Dragon with a Froglok, creating flying mounts for his armies, the Sokokar. On these flying beasts, the Iksar were deadly. Soon, only the hardiest Dragonkind stood unconquered by the Sebilisan Empire.
sarnaks were an experiment by Atrebe, so it might stand to reason these were his experiments gone wrong.
mind you this was found by reading thru the old ruins of kunark manual.

Just a little info here....anytime you see a phantom, a wraith, a revenant, a diviner, a seer, a duke.... all I can think of ATM... they are ALL Phs if they are in an area that isn't filled with them..farther in there are rooms where these creatures will pop (example: chef camp near falling down from shopkeeper area) but they are just phs for a cook which is another common mob.... but at a place such as the pool room right past the first underwater tunnel, there are a bunch of mobs in that place like commoners... rotting peasants... nihilists... vessals... troopers etc... there is a seer there that is PH for Heirophant Ginai. I play in veksar quite a lot and am often on so if you have ANY questions or just wanna get a tour of the place gimme a yell..

What race are all these sentrys, crusaders, etc? They're certainly no Iksar..

If you talked to the professor guy or read any of those history books in cabilis, Iksars and Sarnaks evolved from the same species...perhaps this is the missing link. Its sloping spine and protruding jaw do make it look less evolved. LOL
Well, in my opinion they were Iksar, after all they have the typical Iksar ranks and names. Most likely they are Iksar that were captured in the town in its ruin and underwent some weird transformation or mutation. No idea what could have caused it though, probably an effect of the remains of the healing well that made the town popular.

Tried to find this guy's spawn area and couldn't figure it out. I went south from chef and just came back to the steps near the drop off from Shopkeeper. Is it the room that is attached to chef by the fireplace?

There are two Hierophants here, Vradik and Ginai ( who is not listed ), creating some confusion on the Vradik thread.
Ginai is a skeleton mob, approx level 54. Shaman caster. He spawns in the pool room just past the Animist room and before the golems. Placeholder is a Seer. His drops so far include the Moss Covered Gloves and Silken Veil of Gazing.

We were camping the Highborn area. This is on the other side of the fence near entrance where goblins are. Which the goblins will add if you get to close to the fence. It sucks cause we can't go thru the fence but the goblins can? Not good. Anyways we had a bard in the group and she had Spirittail on track. It was a named commoner looking guy. From where we were, go straight forward passing the building entrance on right to the opposing corner. Inside the building on the left was where he spawned. He did not drop any items, but did have 14pp when looted.

its 'a Swifttail' killed him too. just a monk mob. they spawn in the a Kylong crusader area. Very possible they can drop rare loot; but I haven't seen any out of about 25 kills or so.
