encountered him this evening in the tunnels to the north of the zone. had a pet, conning dk blue and green to me, respectively. Summons, and hits hard, averaging 200 hp damage to me, while i was unable to land any spells except ensare, and then evac on him. did 390 hp damage with thorns.
Snare took the first time, and tried to lead him out of the tunnels. managed to take down pet very quickly, about 1400 total hp. Had to gate out after i took over 2700 hp damage.

Welcome to my parlor...This drops in the fort in LoIO but dont know the name of the NPC, it could be several. The way we got it was to to in Inv'd and only the NPC who had the Bracer of the Hidden could see us. Killed him and looted it. We had other aggo but with a full group, we handled it.
As to your comment on the Gobbie Messenger.. I was after a gobbie skull earring in Wars Woods other day and noticed a Gobbo messenger at the camp.

The goblin messenger spawns at or near the goblin caves in the NW corner of the zone and follows the path south
A Sarnak Messenger spawns near the bridge to the Sarnak tower at the back-entrance of the fort. He will walk over the bridge and then proceed to follow the small path to the front gate of the fort.
Mob is around level 40, pure melee, no faction hits, drops "an unfinished note".

New mob I saw here today. In the noob area near Cab, didn't drop anything.
the dwarf ghost is gamble to me at 28
I ran into a new mob today as I was running east from the FM zone. It was a ghost dwarf, and I found him floating in the pass like area in the mountain ridge that runs north-south parallel with the path to goblin mines. He was green to me at 61 (BST) and died rather quickly without the use of my pet. He dropped no loot and unfortunately I don't remember his name (it did have "axe" in it though). I have spent ALOT of time in LOIO over the past 2 or 3 years and never saw this mob before. The model for this mob seemed rather advanced compared to the other Kunark-era mobs in LOIO, and his disembodied head floated quite amusingly for a second or 2 before it joined the rest of his body after he died. Any one have a clue?

Saw him again in the same spot. Name is Lingering Axefall.
Link to this post 1 reply
I ran into him too. He was green at 54, but I didn't try to kill him. He was indifferent to my iksar monk and did not respond to my hail or a couple simple questions (who are you? why are you here?).
The model is actually from original EQ. It's the same as the the ghost from Unrest that drops Dwarven Work Boots.

To answer my own question, Lingering Axefall is a quest NPC involved with a berzerker quest.
Found a mob which could be called "A sarnak Newborn" in English (playing on the French server), it was level 3. Never seen him before, he dropped "A small Sarnak Head" and "a small Sarnak Brain". Does anybody know what it's for ?

nm, twas just the sarnak hatchling, translation is so bad... sorry for this useless post :/
I am an enchanter looking to get my reserch component: part of taserin's grimoire p.26 left and right. I read here that I could get it from goblin battlemasters. I tried to find them, to no avail until I went to lake of ill omens. This is supposed to be a newbie zone, well its not! Not only is it EXTREMELY easy to get lost, but also killed back 4 levels!!! I'm seriously thinking on dropping EQ for its lack of logic by making the game impossible to move around in and making the enchanter class unable to fend for itself. Make it the weakest casting class, sure, but at least give it a pet that balances it out!!!

It is clear you definately need to learn about your character. Enchanters CAN Solo and solo well over time. If you learn the art of Charming you can and Will become a very powerful Enchanter. You must learn patience. Once you master Charming (And who can really become a master of this - just takes time and patience which is very rewarding once you learn the techniques).
I suggest before you even attempt LOIO you should consult Castersrealm.com as well as Therunes.net which has a vast knowledge base on the skills you need to master as an Enchanter.

1) Maybe you should drop EQ, this is a big boys/girls game.
2) Don't blame the game, it is not a hard zone to get around once you know what you're doing.
3) Don't lie, you did not go back 4 levels and if you did then you're a retard because that would require over 60 deaths easy if you were under 35. Which you must be if you're dying in LOIO.
4) Enchanters are not a solo class, if you don't like that fact you really shouldn't be playing one. They become outragously powerful at higher levels but at no point can solo. Hence RolePlaying
You should have had a guildie or a friend help you in the first place. It's not hard to do just try again with a high level ranger/druid with track and the ability to defend you help next time.
/off semi-flaming

Posting from http://torax.cannotlinkto/page.php?x=10839Chanters are a very good solo class. Mes a white/yellow mob....tash it....then charm it to make it a pet. then go kill three or four blues. Keep target mobs rooted in case charm breaks, which happens from time to time. After the pet has killed three or four blue mobs. give pet the command to guard....back away far enough to cast root on pet...and either hide, if you can do that, or wait on charm to break. when it does break, root former pet and nuke away and get exp for the white or yellow mob. Easy solo. This entire cycle usually runs my manna bar down to zero, but in overthere at level 20 it was giving me any where from one and a half to over two blues per hunting cycle.
Enchanters can indeed solo quite effectively. Provided you know how to play your class.
you're not not a retard
hopefully i can clear some things up here. yes LoIO is a newbie zone, in a sense, if you go close to cabilis you will find level 5ish mobs, and the further away you go the more they get all the way up to level 30ish. see, the parts you were looking for drop mostly off of the mid 20 mobs, sarnaks, which arent easy at all. the pages drop not only off of sarnaks (though they are easy to drop when they turn blue, youll need a group however), but off of many, i mean MANY, mobs around norrath.
as far as chanter, they can solo, its just hard. it does take some skill to learn to solo. and as far as a balanced pet, you get to charm most mobs in the game, while druids (and all the others with similar charm) can only charm animals.
and chanters are weak themselves, this is true, but in a group they can REALLY strengthen it. chanters not only get good buffs and okay damage spells (which i would suggest using only if you have plenty of mana to fling around), but they can also charm, mez, mem blur, and much more. clerics are great at healing but not so good at soloing generally, chanters are great at crowd control. in other words, get a few friends and go own those sarnaks! btw save their blood and look up fine cut, diamond inlaid mask here, its a somewhat dangerous quest, but doable with invis, and it will really help. sell the rest of the blood off or give it to friends.
good luck and hope this helps. btw, look on venders, lots of times people loot them then sell them off, or check bazaar for the pages you need. its amazing how many people dont know what components are for research. and generally on here, if allakhazam lists a mob dropping a rune, word, or page, they probably drop other components, including jade shards and ice of velious, of course some words and runes arent research, but if you look at the research page and look at the mobs on here, you should be able to find which ones drop research pages.

Who is Crix Tzo'mok? I saw him posted near the back of Sarnak Fortress (he is a Sarnak) near tower and stood for at least couple minutes while I buffed (with VE/GA) and got the guts to attack him (with SS/ED/BB). I am a level 30 Iksar SK and he conned red. With decent equipment, non-twink, I got him down to 75% before he got me to 11% where I fell within a few hits.
In addition: after dieing again going for CR and about 20 minutes later he was still there and indifferent. I even got into a fight with a Sarnak Recruit and his conn didnt change.

If you are playing a lvl 26 warrior or any other class, I would expect that you have enough exp and know your charactor well enough to know the answer. What weapons, armour, and skills does your warrior have? If it has been tweeked from the beginning and powered all the time you might need a level 40 to solo. Try this place on your own and think.

You say, 'Hail, Syrik Iceblood'
Syrik Iceblood says ''Oh, hello. You caught me while I was in thought. Currently I am researching the methodology used in smithing weapons during the age of [Veksar]. If you wish to help, let me know. I will take any [help] available, be it friend or foe to the legions of Cabilis.''
You say, 'What is Veksar?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''Veksar was an opulent resort enjoyed by privileged nobles and generals of the empire. It was built near a small freshwater spring with legendary restorative properties, this small outpost was considered one of the finest treasures of the realm. Highly-ranked Iksar from the empire came here to cure their illness and extend their lives with the mystical [waters]. This town was originally created by the Kylong tribe of Iksar, but was assimilated into the ranks of Venril Sathir when he united the five tribes. Many [legendary Iksar] lived there.''
You say, 'What about the legendary Iksar?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''When the Kunzar armies marched upon the Kylong, the three greatest Kylong mystics shattered the medallion of Kylong, a holy relic of their tribe, and fled their mountain homes in order to prevent the Kunzar from reassembling it. These three Kylong were [Verix Kylox], [Dakon Sythrax], and [Sirk Vemat]. As they fled from their tribe they knew that the chances to form the medallion together would be less if the Kylong split up. Verix attempted to hide in the hills of the Dreadlands. Dakon headed north to the Field of Bone. Sirk Vemat headed to the Burning Woods to hide in the forest.''
You say, 'Who is Verix Kylox?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''Venril Sathir found Verix Kylox the shaman while he was combining the lands for undead. Venril was angered by his lack of devotion. For his punishment he was sacrificed, but resurrected to become a part of Venril's undead army.''
You say, 'Who is Dakon Sythrax?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''Dakon Sythrax the necromancer fled to the Field of Bone. It was here that he raised a small troop of skeletons to build an underwater dungeon where he could hide his treasures. He hid the amulet and some of his more powerful tomes here. One of which was a great [book of necromancy]. The possessor of the book could have full control over an army of undead. He left the skeletons to do his work and returned to surrender to the Kunzar's forces. He was sent to Veksar to work through his days studying the effects of the spring.''
You say, 'What about this Book of Necromancy?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''Xalgoz later discovered the cove and he took the medallion back to the five towers of Teraaz, which is now referred to as Kaesora. He left all of the tomes because he did not find them of particular interest. Decades after the war between the dragons and Iksar, a troll that fell from a passing ship found Sythrax's small cove. The skeletons milled around in disarray. After finding the book and reading what of it he could he found that the skeletons would do his bidding. I have heard rumors that Sythrax was able to assume the form of a great lich to live through the decades. His hatred for being trapped, and for being forced to work for Venril has built over the ages. He only wants to escape this place so he can retrieve his medallion and books that he believes to be in the Field of Bone.'
You say, 'Who is Sirk Vemat?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''The Sarnak captured Sirk Vemat the warrior. They took him to Chardok where they forced him to work in mining out caves that would be used as their city. He still carried the medallion of the Kylong. He knew that in death they would find it on his body so he decided to hide it. He dug a hole as deep into the mountain as he could and placed it in the hole and covered it over. I have heard tales that a slaving rat by the name of Niblek would find the necklace. Niblek's love for shiny things meant that he would keep it with him, but would offer it as trade to anyone that had his favorite type of gems.''
You say, 'What waters?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''Veksar was guarded from the constant attack of dragons and the skulking bands of goblins living in the nearby hills. For years the city thrived with all sorts of visitors. Soldiers harmed by the war were sent here to mend their wounds. High-ranking officials came here to relax and escape the tedium of war. Even Iksar commoners came here desperate to cure whatever ailed them. Since the war with the dragons was always escalating, a massive dome was built overhead to keep the attacks of the dragons away. In spite of efforts, the [dragons] found a way to attack.''
You say, 'What dragons?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''Trakanon sent many dragons here to scout out why this town was so popular. After learning about the Iksar being healed, he knew that he had to take action on the city. He formed a plan to first cripple the cities walls so that their own dome would trap them, and then flood the waters of the healing spring. This would not only trap them, but also dilute the waters, preventing any further healing from taking place. [Garudon] would lead in the direct attack of the town.''
You say, 'Who is Garudon?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''During the formation of Trakanon's ranks he did not garner the support he desired. One of the first dragons to come to his side was Garudon. He quickly grew to be Trakanon's most trusted ally, and aided in drawing support from the dragon ranks. Because of his high ranking position Garudon would lead the [fight] against Veksar.''
You say, 'What fight against Veksar?'
You say, 'What fight?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''The Dragons clawed at the supporting pillars of the dome. The town began to shake and the dome began to fall. The Dragons fled from the pillars, but one was trapped. Garudon was caught in a snare set up by the town's defense. Crumbling to the ground, the dome sealed their fate. Garudon fought with the Iksar from under the dome with no hope from escaping. The Dragons then called upon the waters to flow, and flood the valley. The spring was flooded, its magical properties lost forever. The soldiers finally brought down Garudon. With his last breath he let out a flame the scorched much of the dome and then fell from the air, crashing through the ceiling of the theatre that was built to entertain the Iksar on the mend. Most of his [bones] still remain there, while others were ground up in necromantic ceremonies.''
You say, 'What bones?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''Scout reports tell of his bones laying scattered across the floor of the theater. Because a constant surge of necromancy was needed to keep the citizens of Veksar animated it could not be stopped. They would have to find a way to prevent the magic from flowing into the theater and reanimating Garudon himself. The mystic words painted onto the wall of the theater seem to point to the fact that the flow of necromancy into the theater is stifled. This is all the lore of the town of Veksar that I can recall.''
You say, 'What help?'
Syrik Iceblood says ''We can tell from the weapons that we have taken back from the Bloodgill goblins, that their smithing process must have been very unique for them to remain so sharp after four thousand years of use. Cabilis would like to study the weapons and learn this technique so we can better outfit our troopers. If you will bring me four of the same weapon I will spread your name through our city, and one day you may be able to walk the streets. I am looking for Steel Ch'Ror, Mak'Stor, So'Shar, Ta'Nak, Ga'Nak, and Re'Stek. Until then I will reward you with whatever coin I can get from turning them in for you.''
This guy is an Iksar Monk, 65. Indifferently to everyone, even if you have bad faction with Iksars (na na I don't =P). Give him FOUR of the same STEEL WEAPONS found in Veksar (I.E. Four (4) Steel Ga`Tnok) and you'll get something close to this:
Syrik Iceblood says ''Excellent work Emancer. We will study the architecture of these weapons to better the legions of Cabilis. Soon your name will be known among the Iksar.''

Your faction standing with Cabilis Residents got better.

He also mentioned something about "Book of Necromancy" and I will not stop until I have Max Faction with this guy and have completed all his quests... also, remember him talking about Sythrax? Well, go to FoB, the shoreline, and go RIGHT from Tangrin's island. Keep swimming, until you see a pillar sticking out of the water. Swim underneath, and you'll see an entrance. Everything he says is true. I killed the Troll there, and looting something called, "Sythrax Building Plans." Gave them to him, he gave them back, said he had no use; unreadable, too. I will get the rat in Chardok's necklace, and the other piece and see what I can find out. I will have max faction with this guy in a few days- trust me, I have no life. =P Life of a Necro...

One of the first dragons to come to his side was Garudon. just a thought...it said that Garudon's bones were in the theater, and that in order to prevent him from being animated wards had to be placed around the theater. I'm thinkin that these "wards" could be a quest, that if you break them you can reanimate Garudon's bones and fight him. Dunno, just an idea. If Veksar ever comes to the standard blue servers, I'll try it )
The stuff he rambles about for the Medallion of the Kylong is an explanation of where the pieces of the Veeshan's Peak key are... somewhat odd. Doubt it's relative to any of his quests.
The pieces of the medallion drop from:
Verix Kyloxs' Remains in KC
Groundspawn in Kaesora Library
Quest turnin to Niblek in Chardok (he found the medallion on Sirk Vemat's corpse, or something, I guess)
Anyway, would be very interested to learn more about the quests he offers. I'm a huge follower of the Kunarkian Lore. Some of the best stories in the game, imo, something that's sorely been lacking since Velious.
The Sythrax building plans have been dropping off that Troll for a while now, if I recall rightly.
Can't wait till Veksar goes live. Would love to see what's in there.
Sounds like there's an opportunity for a guild to revive Garudon, too, for a big boss fight.
Couple questions for you... what level range is Veksar? Is it set out like a purely KoS area? Mostly undead? Any faction hits? Might lead a guild raid on there when it goes live.

I just got Aimable with Syrik, and I got a message like, "I cannot tell you of different matters at this time," or something of that sort, didn't have log on... Veksar is mostly undead, all KOS, no faction hits for any mob so far; it's a very dark- and musky-type of zone. I know the Troll dropped the plans forever, point is I never found a relevence until now. I found out about the necklace, and the VP key peice when I put two-and-two, together. =P
Lead a guild raid, this place is great... problem is the spawns are all random, and the named mobs don't have certain areas. For example, the named mobs I have seen so far spawn anywhere and everywhere.
Not much to raid unless you want to explore the zone. I will turn on invis one day and go deep into the parts where the mobs all see invis, and see if I can look for Garudon.

Stop wasting my valuable time and kill yourself.Since I can't post in the unimplemented Veksar post I'll just post here about my opinoin on the zone...
If you go here and read the story on Zebuxoruk, it says that there is a hidden city that worships him. It has not yet been found though.
http://eqlive.station.sony.com/library/sub_deities.jsp <-- the link
My guess is that Veksar is that city... I wonder if you need to talk about Zebuxoruk to get a key to get in?

I thought Veksar aka Varnek was one of the original Iksar cities. In the days before the wars that forced the Iksar to leave Sebilis, there were many main sites of Iksar inhabitance...
Sebilis, Karnor's, Kurn's, Dalnir were just a few of them. I believe the sunken city in LoIO was one of them, though I may be wrong.
Guess we'll find out soon enough, though.

Im about to get online and see if I can find some of these deathwings and take em out. Ill post more on the quest after I check it out.

LoIO is AWESOME for xp. I've lvl'ed 2 char's there from lvl 21 to 30 in 10 days...of course playing for 5-6 hours at each attempt to play. All you have to do is find the right group of peers, find near same lvl's and and watch the lvl's fly. Not to mention this zone is fun to check out after lvl 30. It's always fun to kick the &%#( out of goblins, lol. good luck to the new folks coming into the zone for the first time. =)
For the iksar who likes to pry on lighties or level near them ( for whatever reason, ) remeber your water skill and use it to evade the lighties. You can! cast in the water, sink to the bottom, press sit, then stand when at the bottom, then press any gem and cast! pretty easy for me to do on my necro.

okay, today i was on my SK (lvl 22 of the iksar brood) and i was paired with a 21 pally high elf. she was pulling mobs and such to the back side of the mill and i was DoTing them and then subsequently fearing them. Well one of those mobs ran its way all around the mill and after we killed, my pet walked back around ahead of us, and wwhen we came back, all of a sudden.

well the weird thing was that the friggin mob WASNT THERE. at first i tought i waslaggin, however, all animations stayed and all chats and lag checks were A-ok, my lag-o-meter was 0%. so the things beaten the crap outta us (must've been one toughie sabretooth) and then my partner starts getting hits. I wasnt at the time so i jump right next to her and i start slashing the air, even tho there's SOMETHING there.... well we eventually killed it, (never couild find out where the corpse was) so i dunno what it was.
also, i've recently seen sabretooths aggro on nubs, dunno if that's recent (been awhile since i've been to LOIO) or if its some other weird thing.
all in all it was one weird day, oh well.

I've never heard of it happening in LOIO but in Field of Bone, sometimes a mob down to less than one bubble of health will run into a wall and fall "beneath" the ground. This mob will eventually regain enough health and return to you to attack. This may be what happened. Luckily, you can still kill it =)
i found drakes...called deathwing hunter..badass mofos real undercons..go from id say 27-28 to 31-32

They were everywhere from the Mill to the beach as part of Halloween GM Event on OCT. 31, 2002.
They were approximatly level 30, however as stated, that would be slight undercon. I know they hit in the high 70's and I believe one I was battling hit with me some sort of Cloud, but I cant confirm that with the battle spam. (There was close to 200 people hacking away in the zone)
They dropped peices of their body (talons, heart, ect) which were No Drop. You gave the peices to Cazic D'Vinn (a DE Quest NPC) and he gave a random item or coin. In my case I made out with 18pp. Wooot... some people came away with very very very nice armor.
I havn't logged on today to see if the Drakes are still flying around. Would be interesting if they were. Any more info on these?

I saw Words of Tyranny all the time on the dark elf merchants in Southern Ro. I think they are a pretty common drop in that zone.
Where exactly did you "research" that? To all new people playing the game, words/runes/pages are all RANDOM DROPS. This means they can and will drop off of any magical mob of the approiate level. A level 55 mob will not drop the words of tyranny, and a level 20 mob will not drop the words of bondage. Pretty simple, get to killing and sooner or later they will drop, also check merchants as people who don't need em sell em.
I was looking in tracking and came across a mob named "a stuffed barracuda". Now it was green to my LeveL 21 druid, but it seems to be in the middle of the lake. A place a level 21 need not go. So my question is : does anyone know if the mob is part of a quest or just there for people to post and ask this question.

Paludal Caverns is THE best exp in the game from lvl 7 ( if you can get an invis to make it over to the Shadeweaver side of the zone ) to lvl 25.
You also have easy access to Shadowhaven & the Bazaar as well, so banking and selling is easy not to mention having the Nexus close by as well.
Almost makes you cry to leave there.

Because it has the 20% exp bonus, and the easy bank and town access, Paludal is one of the most havily camped zones in the game, and it can be frustrating trying to find a group or a free hunting area.

Paludal caverns is a lot better if you can survive deeper inside the caves.
If you have luclin you shoul definatly head to paldual caverns for level 16-24 then you could do many things but paldual was the best experiance i got at that level solo and grouping wise it kicked the hell out of Loio but then agian what do us dark elf shadowknights know bout that
By same name do you mean Ambassador D'Vinn in CB, or Fullic reappears in CB too? Anyone hailed the other D'Vinn about this? (I know that sounds stupid, but I haven't played in months. :p) He was indifferent to my DE, too. I haven't been able to find any drakes- he said 'in the area' and talked about shipments, maybe they're in another zone? Anyone?

Ok, I've recently seen an NPC in the goblin Ruins named Fullic D`Vinn... He is a Dark Elf, and Indiff to an Iksar SK (who spent a long time killing Inky guards). When I hail him he talks about 'Deathwing Drakes' invading the Land... Has NE1 heard of new Drake MoBs in LoIO?? If so, I would Really like to know where they are, a what Lvls they are.
PS: He also has a quest for their Talons and Hearts.
