Takish-Hiz

TAKISH-HIZ: In an earlier age, endless aisles of marble stood cool in the shadows of the great Elddar Forest. Now all that remains is a lifeless sea of sand and stone. Beneath these sun scorched reminders rests a piece of time forgotten even by the god which set the condemning sands in motion. No longer living, yet unable to forget, something vengeful is moving beneath the desert of Ro. If you venture into this realm of cursed memories, will you survive to tell their story?

This N.Ro camp is great place to come if your of the class to get Summoned line of spells. (ie.Destroy Summoned,Exile Summoned, etc etc)

The correction I am speaking of is the Sand Elves. These elves are tagged 'summoned' mob even though its posted as Monster on list above.

I know they are classed 'summoned' because as a Mage, I have mezzed elf adds. Some resist and sometimes they are not mezzable due to the mobs level.

We were doing a collection last night and about halfway through the adventure, we cleared a room and a woodelf called "a concealed observer" spawned. He was dark blue to me at 57 but white to a level 55. He was targetable but wouldn't respond to hails. We left him alone and after a few minutes he despawned.

We saw this mob's casting messages, but didn't actually get to encounter it, so I can't say anything more about it. However, our average party level was about 56ish, the adventure was a normal collect, & all the other mobs in the dungeon had been Dark Blue; I'm guessing this mob was anywhere from 54th-56th level. No idea what it drops, etc.

I've done a lot of North Ro advys, & this was the first time I've ever seen a hint of this mob, so it might be one of the more rare "named" mobs.

Please note that all the mobs in Takish are "Summoned" with the exception of the bugs, frogs, and whirlwinds. As a mage I use almost nothing other than Destroy Summoned while I am in there which allows me to burn almost non-stop throughout the adventure.

Just an FYI since it doesn't look like the monster types above are correct.

I was invited into a low 60's NRo LDoN group today and the Muted Musician spawned near the end of the adventure. He was only slightly harder than regular dungeon trash mobs, and he enrages at the end. He dropped a Golem Remnant Helm.

This group was very low 60's, low enough that I only received 34 adventure points at the end, and I was able to pacify every mob (paladin pacify has a level 55 cap) in the dungeon.

The helm is very similar to a Helm of Raldukan, which just about every plate wearing twink on my server has on his head or in the bank. Interestingly enough, both helmets have the same graphic when worn. Sold fast in the bazaar for 3k.

I love that they got the monster summoning working again and all (Oct, 9 patch), but it doesnt seem to work in the new zones... what a bummer. I wish they would make it where I can summon me one of those Werewolfs, or a golem like the ones here. But i guess i have to make do with older models.=(

Yeah, I noticed that: I've been using MSII in LDoN so that it can tank adds if required (same or better HP as 49 Earth, no Root to screw up aggro, better damage avoidance and often casts a 43-point damage shield), but it always looks like an Earth elemental. Time to /bug it in game I guess :).
u have to be crazy not to open them!

I was ina group and we passed a crate i used sence trap on it and i did not detect one, so for 20 min's i kept buggin them till the leader went back and opend the chst and low and behold there was a +4 dex stone in it! then another time we were goin through and these crates were rockin back and forth and i checked no curse or trap.. So i bugged them again and we finaly opened it and we all got 50% mana back! and stamina was full again! there were 3 of these, i liek the crates and will always open them!

So far i've only been on two adventures...both in NRo. My experience thus far (and I am a Rogue) is that Rogues in the LDoN are all about DPS. Just as they've always been. Nothing more. As far as sensing/disarming/picking chests, barrels or boxes...I've found a couple of things to be pretty commonplace so far;

#1. No one waits for a Rogue to sense traps and then disarm them...people just plunge forward setting traps off one after the other in the corridors.

#2. No one wants to risk opening chests, barrels, etc. The ONE time I was "allowed" to try my hands at one...the trap went off and I suffered some effect that lowered my attack. No biggie.

Personally, im all for taking risks. I agree that maybe these things should be left for the end of the adventure but still...to leave a dungeon without trying is, to me, pointless.

Like I said...Rogues are still only about DPS...even with the release of LDoN. <shrug>

There are spells available, for AP, to detect traps and curses, disarm traps and curses and to open. These are usable, in some combination, by Wizard, Enchanter, and Cleric. I am a Pally so not 100% certain on which spells for which classes, or if they are available to other classes...but not Pally. They were purchased in Butcherblock, dont know if they are availablein other areas as well, but they work for LDoN chests, boxes, etc.

Ok the spells work like this-Enchanters/Magicians/Wizards/Necromancer get 3 spells 1 detects MAGIC traps, 1 disarms MAGIC traps, and 1 opens MAGIC locks.
Clerics/Druids/Shaman get 3 spells 1 detects CURSED traps, 1 disarms CURSED traps, 1 opens CURSED locks.

MAGIC and CURSED traps/locks cannot be opened by rogue/bard skills.

There are 3 spell sets each granting higher success rate for both lines of these spells. The Disarm trap spells require a component Scrying Stone(different one for each level of the spell)the Magus at each camp sells. The highest level spells component is 17pp and change each(cha 166 and benevolence price), to about 21pp and change (61 cha no buffs).

Just thought I would let you know that not all groups are like that. I personally like to have a rogue in my group for that pupose alone. Of course we finish the adventure first but there is nothing like taking a little chance a getting a little extra out of the adventure. Even if it ends up in a party wipe or whatever the set of trap does. At least we accomplished our mission and I have always ended up with quite a bit more xp going out then in. Just my 2cp.

It's simply not worth it to open the boxes. Wait till the adventure is won (hopefully), get the hell out, and if anyone wants to try their luck with the boxes, let em go back and try. Ive seen more group wipes from those boxes. "Hey, what does this do?" "Wait!" BOOM! YOU have taken 450 points of non-melee damage. YOU are covered in acid. "Oh whoops, sorry guys." YOU have taken 450points of non-melee damage.

With the proper classes available for opening chests, barrels and boxes, there is no cause for fear of the unknown. You have remove curse spells, cure spells and the inspect, disarm, open line of spells and abilities.

Only someone who does not know what they are doing would say to avoid the traps.

I do agree that they are secondary to the goal of a success though and should be left alone until after the success.

If you dont have someone to disarm the chests you really should leave them alone. Bashing doesnt work very well you just set off the trap multiple times and then it gets destroyed.

So far, I've never seen anything useful from a chest. Usually I spend more money disarming it (Greater Scrying Stones) than I make from opening it. It's usually just a couple platinum, with some nasty traps. I've had a group wipe, and one time my group was made very very drunk :)

Just doesn't seem like it's worth taking the time to open it, as of yet that is. May be patched later on, who knows.

I've had a good chunk of xp from the chests although no useful loot as of yet. A single chest has been worth somewhere between 10-15% of an aa to me, you need to disarm them though or they can destroy the content and you get nothing.

Opened a Chest today and got a Sonic BOOM! The effects were like i was drunker then a skunk. We couldn't even move because the effects were so strong. It wasted a good 10 minutes of precious time. The effects took at least 20 minutes to be completely gone. Like everyone is saying, just leave the chest alone till your done with the adventure. Or at least until certain class's can use those new spells to disarm them, etc.

The casters will do that if you let them stand there and cast. Have your tank hide behind a wall soon as he has aggro and as soon as the mob rounds the corner, jump it... bash, slam, kick, stun, nuke, what have you. With a good group a mob won't be able to get off more than 1 or two spells.

My own observation on them is to leave them alone. I've been in about 10 dungeon groups and we've opened probably 5 or 6 chests. All but one was trapped, either poison or disease. Group died 3 of the times. So what did we find in these chests??? Nothing! LDoN has been alot of fun with the exception of people who insist on opening chests in the middle of a mission. If you must play with them, wait until you've finished. They're not going anywhere, so why risk a party wipeout before you finish.

Was there tonight with my 47 Mage. Group was 47 to 53, and we were collecting some odd sand item. Did not get enough, so we failed, but it was a hoot. Almost EVERYTHING in here was summoned. The sand people, the stonegrabber looking things, the big things with crystals sticking out of them.. Sword of Runes for the pet and chain cast summonned dd. What a hoot. Bubble and a half of xp, even though we failed the trip (and I died.. got a 75% rez from the cleric). We kept on killing after we got the failed message, and eventually got kicked out. Good fun.
