Camped her for 4 hours tonight with 0 spawns. We kept the room cleared out the entire time.

With a group of 4 we killed this mermaid; when we entered Kedge Keep, she was simply on track. No indications of other players. So she probably just spawns and despawns. We didnt kill any special creatures, but just headed straight to her.

I was camping in the seahorse caves, she was visible on track, then suddenly gone after a while. No other players were in the zone. So I think you are right, she just spawns and despawns.
We are currently hunting in Kedge. We are there about 2 hours each night and we get her to spawn at least once(even twice) each time we are there. We do kill 2 mermaids in a different room than where the Golden Haired Mermaid spawns.
This is not a long spawn. Perhaps she has place holders.

can a 41 ranger, a 41 druid, a 37 druid, a 43 SK and a 38 necro take the mermaid? any suggestions appreciated. thanks

At your level i would say the hardest part is pulling so have a monk or a higher lvl toon(55+) to do the first pulls just until you have the camp broken. These things do aoe nuke so careful of that its 3 waves of 350dmg i think to all in range. Hope that helps, oh yea the aoe is cold resist and can be fairly easy to resist with i would say about 150cr buffed +/- a bit depending on your lvl

It had to be the easiest fight I ever had. I had myself ( 51 Ranger) and a ( 50 Shaman). I buffed up, and swam into her view she came out to me with out the other fish in her room. Shaman threw a slow on her and I began killing her... She lasted 1 minute tops. Looted the lock of hair and now I am the proud owner of a Rain Caller Bow. If you have a Shaman around it makes it very easy (His slow just rocks).
does anybody know her spawn rate ?

the spawn rate of the room is 8 mins there are 4 spawns in the room she has place holder. she always spawns in the far right side of the room.

The powers of Tunare are for everyone but only a few know how to use them.She can be soloed by 51 druid. Make sure you are invis when you approach the last corner in the hall leading to her room, or else she will aggro immediately even if you stick to the far wall. The Pirahna PH will not.
Cast DS on yourself and invis. Look around the last corner, if GH or mermaid PH is up, root/snare/dot/nuke her. The other 2 Pirahna in the room never assisted the mermaids when I attacked. Eventually the root will break and she wil close to melee, let her come to you and root her again while she beats on your DS. Move to the back of the hall and continue nukes.
If the Pirahna PH is up, then just charm it. the other 2 pirahna will attack it immediately. Cast a DS on charmed fish and he will win the fight. Root the other two in case charm breaks early. When the charmed fish kills the other 2, cast DS on youself and invis to break the charm. The last - very injured - fish will attack you, root it and finish it off.
One last thing, be sure to let MOBs completely into the longer hallway approaching the GH room before rooting. The line of sight rules are REAL picky in here and you will get "cannot see target" problems a lot if you try casting around corners - even when you can see 80% of the target.

Can a 53 Ranger and a 57 Bard break into the golden haired mermaid room? If we snare/fear/mez we shouldn't have any problems right? I'd like the hair for my Rain Caller.
Went in there with a 48 Ranger, 48 Paladin, and 52 Cleric. Was pretty easy. She was easier than some of the other spawns that are in this room. Stilletto Fang Pirahna being the worst. A lot of the mobs conned blue to me at 52. We saw her spawn twice in about 2-1/2 hours. 1st time she ended up getting blown up by a shimmering sailfin that happened to get targeted by our paladin. It blew up and did aoe of 400. - i was hit for 250. Anyway pretty decent camp and we did without much problem

I was helping a level 46 ranger get the hair for the Rain caller quest.
Our group:

We took it down without any difficulties at all.
If the Place Holder is up you have about a 50 min. wait until the next spawn.
The only spells I saw her try to cast were heals. We kept her stunned so I have no idea what she has in her arsenal

I killed her and you do not need 2 full groups of 40+. We did it with a tight group of 4. Warrior, Druid, Enchanter, Cleric all between 38-40 level. You must have an enchanter here to do it with this few people at this level. Things her are not very magic resist and I was mezzing things 5 levels above me regularly.
Get your feel for fighting underwater in the top room. Keep you crap buffs up top and your enduring breath at least 8 buffs down. Get a timer and refresh it every 24 minutes. Once you have the feel for fighting underwater then you can move on.
Invis the while group and swim down the pit in the first room. Do not go all the way down, get off halfway down. Head into the south room. If you do this while visible you will get a mess of nasty fish agro on you so go invis. Once in the south room dispatch of any fish that are there. Re invis and go UP. You will make your pull spot in the hallway just before going into the mermaid room.
Goldy will probably not be up. There are 3 spawns in the room. Send puller in invis and have him target the highest con in the room. Have your enchanter assist him. The chanter will mez the high con on pull. Before pull have the tank switch to any mermaids, kill these first.
Have tank attack and make him stay in room while casters are in hallway... the mermaids to a nice AoE spell that goes thru casters fast. Let the tank take it all. After pull mez the high con, mez the 2nd fish, then have enchanter strip enchantment on the mermaid. Just keep mermaids away from casters and you should be ok.
Once room is clear med and wait on spawns. We would kill first spawn quick, kill 2nd, then keep last spawn mezzed for about 5 min before killing. This spreads out the respawn so you don't ever have to deal with 2 after the initial break.
Now just wait for Goldy to spawn... if you can handle breaking the room you can handle her.

ok finally got talked into helping hunt her down... we needed 2 hairs for 2 rangers.... room is down 1 then up -- our group handled her pretty easy 51 ranger 47 ranger 50 rouge and a 55 chanter...
She has a ds so dispell her right away... there are 2 other fish in her room one to the right and one above...
She is about a 20 min spawn give or take I wasn't really timeing and has a fish place holder...
the first time we killed her we pulled her out and got a hair... second we attacked her in the alcove and she poofed... third was a ph.... 4th puller her out to hall and she died... I think she doesn't like dieing in the alcove... just my notes any way :)

I looked at the map from EQ Atlas but I'm not sure which floor she is on.

If I read the write-up that phreekitty did right, she is on the first floor <sort of>. You go down to the second floor and then to the south alcove and back up into her room. I have never made it past the entrance to the first floor , so I can not be certain of this. It is what I am going to try when I finaly am able to get enough of my guild to venture in to help me with her.
So shes called a golden hair mermaid, but her hair isnt gold? Its green, like the others, why isnt she a green haired mermaid then?

Anyone got any Solo info on this chick? I was wondering if a lvl 42 could take her?
How hard is this mob?how common? is the lock of hair no drop?

Well, she is true to her level, even to a level 40. Her spawn rate seems to be every couple of hours, but when it came to the final blow, she disappeared. So, as far as the loot being no drop, not sure yet. A petition was made as far as the "poof" of the creature. BTW, we went in with a full group -- 40 Pally, 2 - 40 rangers, 31 druid, 39 warrior, and 36 cleric. With full group, the mermaid is easy.
A piece of her hair is needed to repair 'The Mane Attraction' used in the Raincaller (ranger bow) quest.
