Saw mob at 2227, 1734. Was easy to solo with a lvl 51 earth pet, rain of swords ,and shock of swords.
Gylton's corpse slams to the ground with a loud THUD! The ground around you still trembles. "Now.. I shall never slay my blashphemous.. brother.. Xyl.."
I've been tracking all over the northwest corner of the zone looking for one of these, and neither name is on my track. Is there another place holder? Do they wander the whole zone? Or do I need to /bug it?

I am wondering the same thing! I've run through BW a bunch and found Gylton up but never thought to kill him. Every post I see says Entalon is a place holder but he's not up anywhere. Has anyone tried to camp this spawn recently? If I ever see him up, I'll use the Quillmane spawning technique to get some answers!

Arfyak, it's good to hear that Gylton still drops the Burning Embers. Like Gethenivous, someone told me Gylton no longer drops the Embers. This, of course, as I was killing Gylton every time I could find him, up in the NW corner of BW. Nice to know that the "no longer drops" is not accurate, since he's easy to find and kill.
Just got Gylton to drop the embers for me! I did not notice the tell-tale glow on Gylton that has been talked about, but I killed him during the day. If you are soloing and to low for Phuzy, then be prepared for a longgggggg wait for them to drop off of Gylton. Took me about 3 weeks of dedicated playing to get them to drop. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.

I have camped Nez and Phur for 3 days now. I have 26 kills on Nez and Phur combined. To say they are stingy with the embers, is putting it lightly.
I got 'Red Wurm Gut' coming out my ears 8-P
This camp is taking way longer than what I predicted, so plan to spend some time here.

Ok I've spent several days killing Entalon and Gylton without success.
The other night I get a tell from a guy asking why I am killing Entalon. I answer "Because he spawns Gylton. I need Burning Embers for mage epic."
He tells me that they removed the embers from Gylton's drop table... /em smacks self on the forehead.
Ok so can anyone confirm this?
62 Cleric friend has tried to help me get Phurz but it has been camped every time we go... I did however see him pop and marked the spot on my map. There was a 65 Bard there killing him for the embers as well. I checked back a few hours later and Bard was still there so I am assuming Phurz is pretty stingy with the embers at the moment.

Yes, Gylton do still drop the burning embers. I got it from him after 3-4 hours of camping just the other day, and also noticed the ground around him was lit up.

I've killed Entalon (Gyltons PHer) about 50 times and killed Gylton himself close to 25. Whenever I get some time I just get on my druid and start killing. Easy solo with druid at 51, just use drifting death, drones of doom, and creeping crud. Anything fire based will be resisted often.
I always pull them to the north side of the giant fort (1500 1000) to be safe about adds. In my experience they seem to spawn in about 4-5 different places just north of fort and will sometimes wander to the crater at 2000 neg2000 if left alone long enough.
Waiting patiently for my burning embers for mage epic (he's camped on north side of fort) but getting frustrated. On the plus side though I've made a few hundred plat and about 2 yellows of xp for the druid though.
Also spawn time is 5-6 minutes which is good, otherwise I'd pull my hair out. Here's hoping this godforsaken wurm gives me my drop soon...

When the embers dropped, Gylton was defintely glowing (an orangish pulsing glow eminating from his main body).
I have heard that glowing will only occur if /dynamiclights are turned "on" - mine were.
I started camping Gylton as a 54 mage and the air pet. Tagging with Elemental Maelstrom, I lured the Gylton/Entalon back to the giant fort hill (to avoid adds). DS on pet and a couple more DOTs, a couple pet heals (with TEF) made killing him a cake walk.
The spawn time was roughly 5-7 minutes between Gylton/Entalon (Entalon being the PH for Gylton - spawns more often).
The spawn points were at the base of the giant hill (on the north side), the hills facing the northside of giant fort behind the white pillar, and on top of the hills across the road (which are out of view from the giant hill - so one has to run up there occasionally if no pop is occurring).

Yeah, got my Burning Embers from him today and there was a definite glow: not on the body, but I could see him lighting up the ground around him.
So at least you pretty much know beforehand whether you're going to be happy or disappointed after you kill him :).

I didn't pay attention whether he was glowing or not but he did drop the Burning Embers on my second kill. Guess I've been lucky. :)

With the 51 earth pet and the magic based spells Wrath of the Elements (55 DoT) and Shock of Swords (44 DD), it was no hard to kill them. Didn't see the body glow but I will confirm that Gylton does drop the embers. We were there for the dragon scales and got Burning Embers two times in a row. Luckily I was able to find a mage next door in Sky Fire to loot.
It's an easy spot to find. You zone in from Skyfire and camp on the little slope right in from the valley you followed from SF. Have a tracker. The info from the Ultimate Mage Epic Quest Guide puts Gyltons spawn point at near P3000 P1500. I think it more east of that, possibly around P3000 P500 or so. I have dropped him about a dozen or more times in the last week but yet to find the Burning Embers. I usually set up camp near the path to SF (watch out for wandering mobs - there is a Sarnak caster that spawns near to SF and walks back into the zone). Both Entalon and Gylton can be seen wandering from here if you don't want to try looking for them. Spawning with Entalon appears random. In one session I dropped Entalon 7 times in a row before Gylton showed. Another time Gylton popped twice in succession. Repop is about 5 mins but as they wander then its difficult to judge when they will come into view from the SF camp. Sometimes very quickly other times might not show and you have to go looking.
Wurms are resistant to fire based spells. I use a 51 earth pet + plate armour + 2 Dagger of Symbols. Let pet get aggro, then TEI pet and shock of swords until death. Usually pet at 2-3 bulbs of health and down to 40% mana or so with KEI.

There are multiple spawn points shared by Entalon and Gylton up in the north-west-ish corner of the zone not too far from the Skyfire zone line; or, at least, I saw both Entalon and Gylton spawn at some of them at different times and suspect they're all shared spawns. I think there are three spots near the ruined building not far from the zone line, and at least two more further to the East.
Either way, once I found them the first time and killed them, they weren't hard to find again... usually I'd spot them within a minute or so of spawning before they wandered off too far, and often right at their spawn point. Being non-KoS to Sarnaks made that a lot easier since I rarely got aggroed while running around looking for the wurms.

These mobs are easy as a pally chain stun rules they get one hit on me thats it sometimes only 17 damage. Well then again do havea a windblade doing double 150's. But anyways anyone got a clue what the wurm scales are for have found nothing on it yet.

Could me a Lvl 44 Warrior and my Friend a lvl 47 Druid Take him on? i figure if i can't take him by like getting too low on hp too fast he could always just kite the bastard eldar spiritist gaunts and vamb no mana on a snare or drones he always has kei so i figure maybe i could be wrong...what do i know i'm a warrior

I dunno about that warior and druid duo, my 48 druid self couldnt land many hits on im, got snare, but other ones were largely resisted or hitting for like 8 damage :( he was DB btw

I was walking along trying to find the guy u talk too to start the druid epic when i saw this guy on track. he was blue so i decided to go for it and i soloed him with 50 mana just rooting and drones of dooming him with my es vambs. He is very resistant to fire, but can be easily killed if u just snare, root, dot, and repeat untill he is dead. Hope this helps.

could a 45 ranger and 45 druid take down these wurms by having the druid snare, dot and nuke like mad to get lots of aggro then have the ranger chase after and melee the mob while the druid just... runs away from it... works perfectly for HG and other big mobs..

Actually soloed it this morning. Just kept running circles around it and cast DOTs... Trick was to stay out of range of a rather nasty bite, but close enough to land the DOTs... took a few minutes, but quite a rush when you realized you soloed a dragon just by singing at it...

No Way could you 2 guys bring him down Killed him last night me 34 warrior and guildmates lev 57 Dru and lev 45 dru 39 necro and our lev 60 cleric. he has high resists and hits hard. took me down several times to 1 red before the heals got off.He went down fairly easy to our Group but would think twice before trying it with any combo of at 2 ppl in the mid 40's This guy takes a group to bring him down. I haven't tried it with that combo, but these mobs do have high magic resistance. I'd bet that the snare wouldn't stick if you are the same level as the mob.

I would say that Gylton has about 6k hitpoints. I took him down solo with 51 mage pet and 6 castings of lvl 44 Shock Of Sword spell with Focus item that maxed out at 714 each cast.

54 shaman running across BW the other day to get to SF, ran right into this wurm, did a /who and the zone was empty. So I figured what the hell I will try him. Poision and Disease was never resisted with the ocasional roots I was able to take him out without any problems. went to try a regular wurm after and was surprised to find out that the reg was seemingly more difficult than this critter. seems Kind of backwards but thats the way it went for me.

i was able to solo him at 44, just takes all my mana heh heh... btw, he can be lower than 45, i can get him to con blue and even all the time.

ok they hit in 135 I hear np.
Do they have an AOE like sharmwyrms in GD and does it seem to be a 75range like in GD or 200 like a named dragon in DL. and If what is it based cold poison disease or fire.
I ask because I can SOW kite shardwyrms now at long ranges as a bard now. when i get a cold based DOT at 46 how easy should these be vs. the shardwyrms. I figure I can kite one for maybe 50minutes and kill one with no damage and maybe 4 to 5 adds. If I dont have any bad luck.

The durn beastie dropped a "burning embers" instead of the scale. I have killed him several times but this is the first time I have seen these drop. Any idea of what they are for?

Can someone please CONFIRM they drop of him, I've been in Burning Woods for days, and have killed him many times, but have yet to find burning embers. I just wanna make sure i'm not wasting my time there

a 53 necro can easily solo one of these wurms as long as the mob is always feared because the 53 pet has a bit less hp than the 49 pet. The 53 pet, however, can do a lot more dam with fearkiting. Darkness/fear is the key :P

We fought Glyton last night on the Bristlebane server(lev 51 wizard, 51 ranger, 45 druid, 44 ranger). He con'ed blue to my 45 so his level may fluctuate. However, he has an incredible amount of hitpoints and hurt us all badly but we succeeded in dropping this wurm.

He spawns near the mouth of the Skyfire Mountain zone tunnel. You can track him with a druid at roughly (1700,3000) but a ranger is obviously preferred. Entalon is his placeholder so you have to kill him if you see him on track.

these named wurms are not all that tough last night i killed one with a group level 40 to 42 two clerics a warrior me a ranger a druid and a SK i got the scale we went after the second one though and got jumped by two regular wurms then it got tough and we had to evac but alone one of these wurms can be taken down with a good mid to low 40s group...make sure you got healers though
