yeah, but, the way i heard it is that when someone drops something, the NPC picks it up and you have only a little time to get it back... it would be in their storage and probably some dude dropped a FBSS and 50 plat.. or.. second explanation... he was a jerk and tried to kill newbies witha trick.. ;d

Since day one, the first guide ever written on Everquest, and every since then. If you drop something near an npc they may pick it up, it has always been that way and always will. What I wanna know is why did all you people drop stuff on the ground to begin with?
And the guy telling us he got 50pp and a FBSS from this ogre is just trying to get you all to try to kill it and die like he prolly did, as mentioned in several other posts, merchants poof upon dieing. no loot, no 50pp, no fbss, no corpse , nothing .

When a merchant dies you do not get loot their corpse just dissapears that guy was just a liar.
Heh all i know is i was in a group there once and I saw some one hit him from my group and all the gaurds went running after him... then all of a sudden like a flock of hungry pigeons to food the gaurds came running at me and slaughtered me. So I say ... DONT ATTACK HIM!!!!!! =p

I remember this guy! I used to have a human cleric and tried selling something to this guy only to have him kill me. SMACK! Loading please wait ... ARRRR. That was back before I new how to reassign the attack key. Oh, those were the days. Phhhhhhh. Right.

Heh yeah I noticed him. I was like "WTF? How could an Ogre live 500 years?" and when I spoke to him he says he is from a long-line of Boombas selling pickles at this very spot for over 500 years. He said that he's named his daughter Boomba and when he dies, she will take his place.

Looks can kill they say, well if that applys to looking at and iksar monk the wrong way i guess =) i swear this guy was staring at me so i put his head under my hammer and beat it to a pile of ogre flesh.
he stole my freaking water flask. stole a few other things I dropped on the ground and didnt know NPCs would take. sure I was just a newbie, but this dude is rude. his prices are too high anyway. why kill him? because I hate him (and hes a big ugly ogre).
anyway, its all about who pissed you off most when you were a newbie. I still want to kill guard tolus for stealing all my kills, then slacking off when I was trained by orcs.

I found that his pricing was somewhat low compared to the human merchants in Freeport, so I usually sold my beatle eyes elsewhere.

he couldn't possibly be that level..hes yelllow to my 18 monk. :) also, him ruins your faction, and him being a vender, you get no exp or loot... dob't drop anything near him either..he'll take it.

I have a lvl 19 shadow knight on Ayone ro and Boomba is blue to me so he has to be lower than that.

First attack him and zone to ec. Come back and he will be standing a bit infront of the gate and then you can kill him without the guards having aggro on you. He doesnt drop anything though and has no exp. He is lvl 20.

ok im a L30 rangr and i snared him and was mobbed by all surounding guards boomba himself max hits for 41. i wouldnt recommend killing him unless nearby guards are mezzed/harmonized or your high enough lvl that u can run away from them if you get into trouble

ok u guys.... i narrowed it down and i know Boomba the Big's real lvl... when i was on lvl 19.. i conned him and he conned yellow.. when i was on lvl 20... he conned black... i guess he's around lvl 19-21 since no one really kills him....

you dont want to drop things you intend on keeping around him. If you drop stuff around him he will say "Me find sumting. goodie!!: and poof! whatever you dropped will be gone, I suppose killing him is the only way to get it back. I asked a guide about this. He said all NPCs are like this.. which is of course bullsh*t but whatever. Just thought you might like to know. And in response to someone else's post about why you would possibly want to kill him... my answer is why not? He is mortal, therefore, at the mercy of bored druids with too much mana and time on their hands. I have seen the cart with no Boomba by it many times.. :) He hollers something like "Me not a weakling!! Me bash you good!!"

I agree with Porkins. I mean, people on EQ have completely forgotten that this game is about roleplaying and that is what makes it fun. If you go and kill an Ogre merchant just because you can, that is meaningless. In what book have you read last that "a noble elf walked into the town, slaughtered the merchant, ran out of the city and came back a few minutes later without the guards on his tail"? It is the same for druids going around Butcherblock slaughtering defenseless dwarves in wolf form.
Except that being an rpg, anyone that isnt of that faction should kill him.... hes an ogre and deserves to die.

If you are a low-level person and you have to sell. Don't sell to Boomba. Sell to the vendor up the ramp in WFP. You get more money in my opinion

This Ogre is not level 45 by any stretch of the imgagination. He cons green to me at level 35.
