Little bugger flurries too, not very often though only once or twice a fight. Killed him 5 times in a row tonight since there is no lockout timer on the quest and can be repeated very quickly. It's decent xp at early to mid 70's.
Snareable (both Ensnare(51) and Earthen Embrace(61) landed), rootable, does not see invis, flees at 10%. Ease snare-root-shoot solo for 80th level ranger, even lower. Make sure your number 9 and 10 gobbies are the two outside the gate. When number 10 goes down he pops just on other side of gate.
