I had 2 Vah Shir beastlords, a wood elf druid, a high elf cleric, and a dark elf enchanter - he conned indifferent to everyone. If you Hail him he basically tells you to go away. Simply go up, target, say "Equipment" followed by "find" and get the task. Had been killing in the gnoll camp for several hours.
Couldn't figure out exactly how much xp was gained, sorry.

This is a quest mob not a monster.
He gives a task called Scattered Gear:
I apologize for the limited information, I didn't realize at first that we had gotten it because it was the accidental result of my husband saying something rather rude to Wyl'ard ...
Say to him "Equipment?"
He will reply:
When those animals tore our camp a part they also took off with my equipment. I'll need some help gathering it back up. Would you be willing to [find] my cartography equipment and bring it back to me Nivetta?
Tell him that you will find them.
[Thu Oct 04 22:51:34 2007] You have been assigned the task 'Scattered Gear'.
[Thu Oct 04 22:51:34 2007] Cartographer Wyl`ard says 'Great, there are many creatures around that could have run off with my equipment. You might want to check out the gnolls in the northeast, they can be pretty crafty.'
Your task will be complete when you loot Wyl'ards Cartography Tools, and you will receive a small amount of exp. (not sure how much yet on AA, we had regular exp on)

Went back at level 75 to finish these tasks but this guy now scowls at me. what faction did I screw up?
Edged in as close as I dared and hailed him and got the task. He didn't aggro. I didn't get close enough to see if he would.

if you can hail him your in agro range. He's a non-agro mob. For Quests and the like so doesnt matter much how he likes you, at least for the wunderlust quest
