spwned on me as soon as I enter poearth. dropped mask, glyphed rune word and enormous croc tooth./
I'm not sure exactly where, but there are specific locations that this mob can spawn at, which are all traps that are triggered when you step on them. There is a total of 5 of them, and I was able to get him to spawn like four times in an hour to drop the whip for my little ranger. Let's hope the fabled version follows the same rules.

Though I can't help with the hit points, I had him pop on me today. My wife and I (Cleric and Ranger lvl 66) returned from a 2 year hiatus still wearing gear from Time, High end GoD etc so Gimp by todays standards. We duo PoEarth because of the nice exp bonus and because we seem to have the planes to ourselves these days. A wiz friend came to join us and Prismatic pops. Since I saw you were wanting to know how much he hits for I pulled him intending on doing a Weaponshield/exodus combo. He WILD Rampages, hits for about 850, flurries wildly and 9k hp were gone literally before I could click WS and Evac hotkeys even with a Heal over time on. The whole "fight" lasted about half a second with only the cleric had time to click the zone out we were standing next to.
Maybe with today's gear and buffs it is possible but I would bring friends on your first go round. BTW for the guy talking about the whip never dropping, I have the whip from before I left. Out of about 7 kills I have seen 2 whips and we had to call out in guild chat and get someone's alt to come get gimped in to loot it LOL

I know its like 2 years after the last post, but if anyone pops in knows how much this hits for or an estimate of hp I wouldn't mind at all knowing. Wondering if its solo'able (likely) these days with all the new stuff. Would be a fun wep, even just to play around with.

does the prismatic basilisk summon and if so how many needed in grp to take him out. Jst got ep flagged and would like to try for the weapon

If any rangers out there are hoping to farm this in... I wouldn't recomend it unless your just a really lucky person. My luck sucks and so far I'm at 18 Pris Bas kills for 19 Masks... yes one time it dropped 2 masks.... have still yet to see a whip drop.

I got my last mob needed to become elemental and on my first trip to Earth, I am the puller and this guy spawns on my way back to the group with another mob. A few of us die, but we regroup and kill him and the whip drops which I got as the only ranger, WOOT. Needless to say I was pretty happy.

We had our camp at the zone in and I spawned this guy 4 times in about 2.5h. Once at the front croc-trap and three times at the second trap on the right side.
He dropped 4 masks :/, 3 runes and 2 spectrals
Maybe I'm just lucky or they changed the spawn rate of this guy.

This spawn has been fixed (with the last patch). The ranger-pet-weapon is now farmable with a regular PoE exp group. After about 8 hours of exping in PoE, I finally got this mob to drop the weapon (after 3 masks and 2 depop incidents). The mob himself can be fairly difficult without a defensive warrior, or a sk/pally with quite high HP. He flurries quite often and can be unexpectedly difficult.
The payoff is well worth it though, I am very pleased with the whip so far!

seen this mofo tonight was getitng group together and he despawned /cry
this spawn is broken atm.
can only spawn on server resets.
he can spawn from any of the FOUR gator traps on the right wall from zone in. i have killed him 4 times, since the servers have been crashing lately, and have gotten the mask all 4 times. Sucks how rare this whip is. Only one on prexus i believe.

I like triggerin the traps in PoE and it was pretty fruitful for a while. The Living Earth ones in particular..but since those two last patches I haven't seen a single named from traps with many many many many traps tripped...Not an sos rogue so the dangers are pretty high and it stinks that it seems no named are spawning.

Hogwosh ....heard this is game today and told the person that said it same thing. I have this whip i got it a week after the previous server reset and 3 hours into the camp after triggering multiple times. Its just really rare mob (Really Really Rare)... Yes mini mini's in the elementals are more likely to be up directly after reset. 3-4 Minis per zone on average but this is not the only time the Prismatic spawns We dont need anymore misinformation around here. Dont assume because the mob isnt spawning for you that its bugged. If you continuously camp this mob including as soon as server comes up ...it still could take you a month to even see this mob ....you could see it a few times in a week. You may get whip your first kill like me .....or have to kill him 10 times. On the Flip side Sea Turtle and Barracuda that drop bard weapon can be seen nearly daily (Drop is still rare Gratz Rott on your new coral shard).
If you don't trigger the basilisk right away after a reset...the spawn can be delayed numerous hours. I'm not convinced.

With the recent patches, and how many times the servers have come down, my guild has done mud a ton over this past weekend, and since the servers just came up each time, we actually saw this guy 3 times, and a group of friends exping at the enterance saw him once...dropped 3 caster masks, and last night, we lucked out big time. He showed up while we were doing the mud ring, and dropped the whip! Gratz to Perserviana for getting the third one ever on Vazaelle! It just sucks how rre a drop it is off him to begin with, but the fact that he can only spawn once each time the servers come up is a really low blow...
