The named was up for me as well, and I didn't have enough to take him, so on a hunch I decided to kill frogs in the forest area (where the storm rider area is). I killed three frogs (two adds) and got three collector tongues. I wouldn't waste time in the middle until you've tried the forest frogs.

OK... I'm doing the "EQ Ninth Anniversary Scavenger Hunt" quest and I went to the area in PoStorms where the frogs are meant to spawn that drop the quest item but the area was empty. I checked track and all I could see near the tornado was this named frog. After looking him up, on this page here, I was a little bit freaked out because I knew I'd have to clear him to get the frogs to start spawning again and he sounded very scary with all the adds, etc.

Despite being light blue, I was worried that he was an under-con. Needless to fear, I gave him a shot... and he was SO easy! The fight took just about 2 minutes, with one set of gray-con adds (4 total) when he was at 10% - my HPs never went under 90% the entire fight! (Level 80 ranger with 1330 AAs and *ONLY* self-buffs + clarity / haste potions = 18487 HPs.) I just clicked warder's wrath, auspice, guardian of the glade, and burned him down then killed the 4 adds. It's amazing that a fight that took 30+ people 4 minutes just under 5 years ago can now be solo'd by a ranger in 2 minutes. That equates to 1 well-geared toon today being roughly equivalent to a raid of 60 people 5 years ago - crazy! :)

On another note... been camping Collector's Tongue for over an hour now and still no sign of it. Grrr!
He's easy now!

Adds come in timed intervals ... 2 grouped him with my guild, someone else said they thought adds where tied to health at every 25% so that can't be true b/c nothing spawned at 50% health, Adds are Mezzable, He is NOT slowable, tried with BL, Shammie, Enchanter and Ranger Epic Proc.

Summoned mob timer

We did this guy on Xev tonight. I'm convinced that he spews the 4 adds at 2 minute intervals. The first 4 adds came when the mob was at 40% health. We had him down in under 4 minutes, and we never got a second set of adds.

He dropped the Wind Ring tonight for us.

As stated below, this mob is quite easy for 3 groups the real hard thing is mob-control as it is usually the adds that kill you.

Have MT to gain aggro, then slow it and then slowly walking backwards with rogue + pets hacking at back, pet casters should nuke and dot.

MA + rest take care of adds while enchanters try to mezz them.

If you stand still while mob is spawning adds - you will die eventually as they target aggro holders first.

Summons, not timed adds

After taking this guy out last night, I'm pretty sure the "adds" that show up are tied to his hit points, not a timer. This is the 2nd time my guild has done the encounter, and while I can't be totally sure, I think the adds come at 75%, 50% and 25% hit points on the boss. Not certain yet, but pretty sure. The first time we did him, we had some 30-odd people there and the fight lasted about 4 minutes. Last night we had about 20 people there, the fight lasted about 6 minutes, but the number of summoned mobs was the same...so evidence points at the adding mobs being based on his hit points, not a timer.

Like most zones that have variations in height of land mass, it's not uncommon for frogs to get stuck under the world and prevent the named from popping. We had to grab a GM to clear under the zone. Have your trackers looking for annomilies like this sooner rather than later in the clearning process.

definitely a timer... just have a bard kite him around a bit without damaging him... they still spawn at roughly 2 min intervals

I was with a conventional group last night and was using a lorok pet. We cleared the cave pretty quick. I didnt know about this guy so I was surprised to see all those new spawns after we cleared the cave. Killed all them too. Then I pulled him.

We had a shammy, pally, cleric, druid, beastlord, necro. Got this guy to 80% before my pet went down and I exodus'd us. Pets were tanking, paladan was watching the fight :P The adds at first went for my frog. I got worried about the damage to my frog and snared one to pull it away to root. Not sure exactly what happened at camp but my pet died while i was off rooting that add. Got back to my group screeming evac.

Will be going back this weekend with my more usual mini killing group. 3 druids 1 cleric. maybe an extra cleric and an AM3 ranger that likes to join us. I think he will go down np.
Drops this as well

Pretty much everything that Rajdiz said keeping your clerics and chanters alive is the key
ok, a few words on this mob...
# Jan 10 2003 at 11:05 AM Rating: Excellent
Dropped a spectral parchment and a Tunic of Woven Steel when we downed him last night.

Ok, to spawn him need to clear our ENTIRE frog cave in PoS, when this is done there will be a ring of frogs in the center, clear them. Drornok Tok Vo'Lok will be in center of lake, pull him out of lake, and you will need AT LEAST 2 good groups (very iffy), we used 3. The problem is not Drornok Tok Vo'Lok, the problem is 4 adds spawn at what seems 45 secs to a minute intervals, and generally go straight for clerics.

Drornok Tok Vo'Lok himself rampages, hits for about 878 max, and was not slowable by any of the chanters or shaman, however he was slow enough that a 2 cleric ch chain works if the adds don't smoke your cleric. :)

Timed the adds while watching another guild kill him with two charmed loroks. The 4 pops appear to be at 2 minute intervals and spawn around him wherever he is.
