They are on the castle open area. They are totally inmune to snare or root...
As you leave the north end of the castle, head northwest. I found a pair around pos 1045, pos 200.
Not all of them are immune to snare/root. About 25-50% of them were able to be snared.

These mobs can also drop Etheral Parchments, got 2 off them yesterday

at least some of these if not all are immune to root and snare.

Actually, there are some you can root/snare. It's a bit hard to make the difference, but the smaller spiders are juste like smaller larvaes. But anyway, you better try every mobs at 90%. Might save your life it root/snare sticks :)

been hunting here for 30aa now and never seen but one shiny metallic orb drop... anyone know what its for?

It was roaming near the cave and the grave yard. It didn't seem to be part of a train.
I killed it and it dropped a heart and dropped a Crystalline Carapace (no drop, lore, none/none)
