How do I submit images?
User submissions are the lifeblood of this site. With a database of over 5,000 creatures and NPCs, it can be overwhelming for me to keep up with filling in all the details. Any screenshots of npcs, and beasts are welcomed and encouraged.Why didn't my image or creature addition get used?To submit an image, send it as an email attachment to the EQ Team. Images should be sent either as JPEG or PNG format. If you're sending a JPEG image, please save the image with a quality of (at least) 8/10. This allows the best possible image quality with reasonable image size.
For the "Submit Creature" form, the data gets entered into a temporary table so that all data can be validated (and the juck removed). In some cases, your creature may have already been in the database under a different zone or location.Mind if I scarf your Images?
Nope, not at all.Where did you collect all this?As far as using images or information collected here goes; feel free to scarf them. I don't mind. It would be very nice that if you find the images useful, you give credit (a simple link will do); but you're certainly not obligated to. If you enjoy the site, steal the images (feel free to scarf any javascript code as well).
Much of the data was compiled from a spreadsheet available from www.k2.org (used with permission). This provided simply creature name, level information, and (sometimes) which zone it is found in. Much data has been user submitted, and where possible, replaces the info from K2. Also, the group that I hunt with has been very polite in allowing me to drag them to various places to gather info.Level info is great, but what about loot and what not?
Many of the creatures in the database are in "placeholder" mode. Little to nothing is either known about them, or I simply haven't had time yet to fill in the loot/description/quest information. Eventually, I would like every MOB to have additional information.Are you Illia from XXXXX server?
I only play on the test server. Put simply, I like loosing corpses permanently ;)Some of those comments are somewhat inane, can you clean it up?
I do try and peruse comments to ensure that they're all oof high quality. I plan on adding a moderation system, which will allow people to select good comments, in an attempt to boost the signal to noise ratio. It's a fair pile of coding to do, so it's takeing a while to get done. The moderation system will be designed after Slashdot's.Hey! You spelt "Bestiary" as "Beastiary
Umm... yup. While I'd love to claim that by Beastiary, I'm referring to a virtual world, rather than RL, I'm not nearly that smart. Had someone point it out the day we went live, when it was simply too late to change names, so from now on I'm sticking to the concept that "Beastiary" means "A catalogue of creatures from a virtual world" ;) Seems I really should have payed attention in english class.
