Was in mid-quest when my cleric hit allied so I finished it off and this time selected XP instead of faction. This quest gives the XP equivalent to killing 4 aviaks. That's for a level 81 high elf cleric. Now my level 81 dark elf wizard got the equivalent of 3 aviaks. Figure that one out since they're both allied...

Took 12 times doing Recoup the Coup plus who knows how many aviak kills to get to allied.

Circle of Divinity II is a great spell but unless your cleric summons food and drink a lot, be prepared to work on CONJURATION in order to be able to use it. At 236/325 my cleric fizzles about 12 times out of 13 trying to cast this spell!

Another interesting piece of info, for what it's worth: I did this camp boxing 6 toons. For the most part they ALL were together the whole time doing the faction work. But I only did the Recoup the Coup quest with my cleric (12 times) and my wixard (4 times.) I checked faction regularly because once I got to warmly I was getting damn sick of killing these birds. The cleric was almost done with the 12th time when he needed some supplies so I took a break to gate him back to Camp Valor. Pleased was I to find he had jumped to allied! I finished getting his last drop for the 12th time, figuring I could use a little extra XP. Ran the whole group to Camp Valor to do his turn in. Lo and Behold I discover the entire group is now allied.

If that's the case AT BEST the cleric doing the quest 12 times means he gained a handful of kills worth of faction over the rest of my group. Because I couldn't possibly have killed more a dozen or so aviaks to get his last drop after confirming he was already allied.

On this basis I would conclude that this quest gives a TRIVIAL amount of positive faction (like many the equivalent of one extra aviak kill), although this does seem to contradict other posters.

What? You think Conjuration is only for food and drink? My cleric keeps his Conjuration skill capped just from summoning his animated hammer pet!

My cleric has done RECOUP THE COUP 5 times as well as spent several hours of faction killing all at "warmly." He's still warmly. That last jump to allied is TOUGH!

so, who gives the last 3 tasks listed? ( an extract science, the spark of life and carrion my wayward sprout). And of course what dalogue? Grom still wont talk. hope wednesday fixes it.

Aviaks all raise Camp Valor faction when you kill them. But must be damn slow process because I've killed enough Aviaks to BOTTOM OUT my negative faction with them ("The Borrowers") yet I'm still just indiff to Camp Valor.

Indeed!

After bottoming out Borrowers faction and having done zero Camp Valor quests, a toon was still dubious to Camp Valor. Of course, dubious is the biggest to overcome, but it took quite a aviaks to get to "can't get any worse".

I keep repeating 'Recoup from the Coop' (Valor) since it seems to be the most reliable and the aviaks give hits as well. Took four to get to apprehensive, one to indifferent, then another to amiable. Still a work in progress.
