My brothers ranger has activly hunted brownies in Lfay and steamfont, though he isn't max KoS with them. When I got my chanter to 39, he went and bot all of the rest of the spells from them in wolf form. He may not have gottent he best prices, but that doesn't matter much.
Killing them doesn't seem to matter if you go in druid or ranger wolf form, it seems to nutralize your faction with a lot of MPCs (if you are ally with an NPC and then cast wolf form you usually will goto indiffrent wit them, like you were invisable.

Just make shure to scratch the fleas off before you go into their camp, that may help.

So I'm in my lower lvls and I'm doing my newbie armor quest when suddenly I read the list of ingredients and brownie parts, brownie leg, and a brownie brain shows up...

Well a few lvls have passed from then and I'm going to Lfay to get my thicken mana line of spells... I cast Illusion: Earth Elemental on me and cast Benevolence on one of the brownie guards...

And what do I get... NOTHING!!! not even death! they wont sell nor will they kill.

So now I'm thinking of starting a druid or another enchanter and this time there will be no killing of the brownies...

Ok I only was a lvl 4 enchanter. And I decided to go exploring with a cleric friend. So we went into Lfay. Didn't think anything could hurt us. We spent about 30mins in there killing the wasps and the wolfs. (Lucky us din't even meet a shadow dude )So we were looking for more wasps and stuff. When I heard my friend so HELP then I turned around and I saw her fall. I was like WTF? Suddenly a little brown dot soomed up to me and then your body compulse with lighting you take 243 Damage

LOADING PLEASE WAIT...

Then I got pissed and I got my corpse with invis. Then like 1 month later. I created a woodelf ranger. So I was walking near the bandit camp looking to track stuff, when a brownie scout appeared on track. I was so freaking scared, realising that like there were brownies here TO?? But then I noticed that it was green, I tracked it and I killed the little mofo in one kick. And I got some brownie parts ) So now I'm pretty happy with my little sweet revenge.

If you mean everyone as in, everyone that isn't in some form or another yes, otherwise, no. They aren't KOS to wolves (Wolf Form) and they arn't KOS to most Enchanters in Earth Elemental form (though if you aren't agnostic they are dubious). Being Enchanters actually NEED to go right into the Brownie camp it's a good thing there are a few things that make you non KOS to Brownies.

It used to be possible to cast Illusion:Tree, followed by Minor Illusion, and gain mobility as a tree. You'd get the standard message that your illusion didn't work because you're already in an altered form; however you'd become mobile while retaining tree form. Odd, because both minor illusion and tree illusion immobilize you; but that's how it was, for a long while. IT was handy because tree form made the brownies indifferent...that too has changed I believe.

Since the AA ability to cast illusion on others came in, most or all of the faction changes related to illusions have been nerfed. The new goodie they gave us came at a terrible cost.

I have NEVER had Alliance resisted by ANYTHING except a damn brownie guard. Around level 12 I tried alliance on one. I lasted long enough for him to zip over to me. Man those little suckers are fast. Little brown streak. SPLAT. One melee round.

"Wow, Alliance can be resisted? Gee, I didn't know that."
LOADING PLEASE WAIT.

I still cringe a little when I cast benevolence on all those other quest NPCs, like Clurg.
No longer do I believe it's totally safe.
But since then nothing at all as ever resisted and erased me, and I do a lot of quests.

Heh the Kael giants don't count, if you've read my posts about engraved bone pauldruns...They don't resist. They just decide to erase you anyway sometimes. Or used to...it seems lately they're more predictable. It could be I've just learned the exact ritual that works for that quest, and as long as I don't deviate I don't get whacked.

Anyway I advise young enchanters against using Alliance to try to get into Brownieville.
Be patient, wait for elemental illusion. Or if you know the running tree trick, use that, once you have Illusion:Tree at level 16.

The thicken mana line's not good for much anyway, so far. Not for anything you need to do before you're high enough to get the spells. Wu's gauntlets? (yawn)

I think it is very sad that in order to be a master baker you have to be totally powerful enough to kill these little twerps. The weak "A Brownie Scout" that you see in GFay are so pathetically rare that you can spend days and only get 2 or 3 brownie parts. Then if you go into the next zone as anyone under a level 50 you get your butt kicked. That's about the same as making all "hide" bearing animals in their 50's so tailors can't make leather armor.

Don't get the idea that I have notheing better to do than hang around L-Fay and get nuked, but I have taken note on what those buggers do. The scouts have a 300-250 DD spell, DoT is inital damage ~100 and and additional 300+ for at least 30 seconds (haven't lived longer than that). It shows up as a poison spell. High level shamy spell? Plus: Root, buff remover, STR/AGL debuff, distance stun, and they commonly resist LVL 29 enchanter spells. I was able to charm (Beguile) one long enough to get out of it's spell range (/pet guard here)and zone. This has got to be the least hunted in zone Verant has come up with. My friends disaffectionately call this the Brownie Getto.

MY Tunare worshiping Woodelf Ranger was not originally KOS to brownies, I remember cause I was selling to them when I would hunt in lfay. Then I quested for the outcast brownies (Ivy Etched Leggings) and now I'm KoS. My agnostic Bard is KOS to brownies as a woodelf or dark elf, is/was/always will be it seems, even with charisma song I can't get faction to move. I did take an enchanter to the village for thicken mana (selo's = escape plan) and he tried all forms human like (halfling to troll) to no avail but we never had him try an elemental. He did manage to find a spot outside aggro range where he could cast benovelence and become non KOS though. Thicken mana is used with a poison vial and a pearl in your inventory to make a vial of vicious mana used for making Wu's Gauntlets, not sure what the other spells are for.

Well, the only way to get the Thicken Mana line of spells is from the Brownie Merchants. When the first time you can do this yourself?? Level 20 or 24. Alliance won't work - All I get is "a brownie glares at your threateningly. Using Minor Illusion, you can bump faction to apprehensive or indifferent, so Alliance might work... but you cant get close enough to the merchants that way, becuase Minor Illusion and Illusion: Tree both Immobilize you! The solution: find someone that can assume wolf form... but be warned: most of the powergamer druids on my server (Lanys) have spent several levels hunting the brownies, and are therefore KoS. You can definitely get the spells at level 24 with Benevolence and Illusion: Earth Elemental. It might be possible at level 20 with Benevolence and Illusion:Tree or Minor Illusion. Good luck!

Enchanters can technically do business with them from level 8 I believe, a casting of Alliance from a distance should bring them to dubious, then in front of the merchants cast Minor Illusion and that'll make you indifferent. Best illusion though is the level 16 Treeform, which makes you amiable to them (after Alliance to get in). Although since neither form lets you move from vendor to vendor, and there's no difference in price from indifferent to amiable, I suppose there's no difference. *shrug*
Didn't know about Elemental forms, but the first one comes at level 24 (Earth) and enchanters may want their Purify / Crystallize Mana spells before that.

Maybe later, but i've never needed them or wanted them, so far anyways. *shrugs* =) glad to know that Illusion Earth Elemental would work, because I would be kind of nervous trying the Benevolence/Tree route to get the spells.
