This faction is very important if you wish to do half the quests on eq, getting low faction on this would make ti impsibble to d omost quests (Keys, epics, ect.)

From looking at the mob list and doing the quests that involve the faction, it comes from mobs that SOE doesn't want you to kill. I think it raises once or twice during the wiz 1.0 epic, but I could be wrong.

Im trying to find out myself more info about this faction. I have run across a quest i would like to do , and unfortunately , it involves having decent BN faction. Problem is , from what i see, there is not a single kill that will raise this faction , nor any single , simple alternative to raising it. If anyone knows anything about this, i would love some more info on it.
Short of petitioning a GM, is there any way to go from con Dubious to con Indifferent with this faction in order to complete the Incandescent quests? I've tried every chanter trick I can think of including Bene, Invis, and Minor Illusion.
Awhile back we pulled 'a fallen monk' in Crypt in Sebilis, killed it and received the 'cannot get any worse' dialogue. I myself am a Cleric and hadn't healed any of our tanks throughout the fight, and therefore received no faction hit. We petitioned soon after, realizing that the fallen monk was a quest-giver, and many other quest-givers and important NPC's, the PoD's included. Our petition was elevated and soon a GM teleported in front of us and proceeded to wait until we finished off the Emperor to fix each of our factions with Beta Neutral. The GM *did* fix it in this case.
My party killed a skeletal monk last night in Sebilis in the PLA camp and my Beta Neutral faction went straight to "cannot get any worse." Being an enchanter, I have done the incandescent quests, so it should have been fairly good to begin with, but it is in the toilet now.
hi im an iksar necro just wonderin who is beta nuetral ..besides the ones i know of.. i know of these...
rathman allen near ortillias in so ro the ogres in lake rathe near zone to rathe mountains centars in so karena shady swashbuckler in tunnel aviak vendor on top of aviack village in karena (not sure but i think i sold to um but i dont think they like ogres) some gypsys i can sell to...most i cant... i suppose i could sell in solosek ro but ive only done quests there never tried to sell and never checked for vendors
some of these i suppose arnt beta nuetral but ive sold to them
mostly i ask of u, help on finding one guy in each zone.. or nearby zones i can sell to )...
There is a merchant in WK down by the water near the Barbarian Village that I think is also on Beta Neutral. She has to be since she is the only source for all the shaman pet and animal spells (unless there is one in Kunark that I have not heard of). Since the Shaman are both good (barbarians) and evil (ogre, troll) they both need to be able to buy/sell from her. I have had no problem will selling to her with my necro too.
This faction was recently reset to indifferent for everyone, and the bloodstone quest in Highhold no longer gives the faction hit. I was up to kindly, which was nice for the various vendors like the Shady Swashbuckler who are way overpriced. But they are now all indifferent, and turning in bloodstones will no longer give any faction hit at all.
So now I can't say that every single npc in Halas is amiable or better anymore :(

Spoke with GM Drembo on Drinal server. He said Cynthia is no longer beta neutral faction. I asked him what faction she was and he declined to say. I asked him if she had a faction and he declined to say. I do know that the way you can build beta neutral faction is go to HH Keep with someone who can invis. Hand the enchanter vendor 4 bloodstones. BEFORE you hit trade have your partner invis you then hit trade. You will get beta nuetral faction. I went from dubious to amaible in about 5 mins and about 50 -60 bloodstones.

Did something change with the Beta Neutral faction. I am trying to do the rod quest and now none of the NPC's will talk to me. I have tried handing Bloodstones to the enchanter vender in HH Keep and he tells me to get lost. Cyntia in Rath Mountain calls me a scumbag and Miz'N' Mar in Neriak tells me to get lost.
Just as an update, AS OF MAY 30th, 2001 ALL beta nuetral faction mobs will be changed to THEIR OWN faction. The Beta is bieng completely removed from game.
Macoo the merchant name is Tarn Visilin (spelling may be a bit off) and he is in the library in High Hold Keep. If I am not mistaken the merchant next to him is a bard (looks like one anyway) so be careful if you are KOS to bards.
Well the Kat in Kerra Isle, I killed him from 19 to 22, great EXP for a static spawn. And nobody to bother me. Not knowing what Beta Nutral faction was I didnt care.
I was running through the Halfling city (where Im no longer KoS) just to have the PoD scream for my blood and kill me. LOL Be CAREFULL LOL.
I am now threataning by them, vendors have yet to attack me.
Vendors will never attack you unless you attack them first. I think this was a change to keep things from happening like merchants in the east commonlands taking out griffins in a few hits (since vendors tend to be high level and yet somewhat overpowered for their level--they're not really supposed to be killed).
Vendors are extremely unagressive. Even if you're ready to attack to them, you can walk right their face and they won't attack you unless you attack them first or attempt to deal with them (don't attempt to deal with them unless you're at least dubious, although you have to be at least apprehensive to deal with them anyway). This is basically to keep them from clearing out creatures, like you said, and to keep them in their station most of the time to avoid disrupting business (you can't deal with a merchant if they're not in their stationed place, they'll just keep saying "I'm busy right now" until they return to their post).
Most merchants are about level 30, but they hit very hard for their level, and have a large number of hit points for their level. Any guard in the vicinity of an attacked merchant, and even other merchants, will quickly come to their aid. Even if you manage to kill one, merchants' corpses disappear immediately upon their death, and they give no experience regardless of what they conned for you. You'll take a big faction hit with their faction, as much as you would for killing a guard. So it's not worth it. Merchants aren't invincible, but they might as well be. The game is set up so there is no incentive to kill a merchant. At least killing guards gives you experience. Again, for the same reason they made merchants unagressive unless directly provoked, they made them very disadvantageous to try to kill, again to avoid disrupting business.

While doing the Burning Rapier quest I got Beta Neutral faction for giving Norsea Sparkle a sparkle purse. The sparkle purse drops off of some dark elf named <someone> the Exiled in the High Shaman room or something like that in Sol A. Might be more trouble than it's worth but if you're desperate....
I seem to remember reading on Graffe's that there was a rumour that doing the Tishan's Kilt quest would also raise Beta Neutral.
Incidentally, I've spent several levels camping Cynthia in RM, and she is still indifferent to me. Hence, I would assume that killing her does NOT drop Beta Neutral.

I can't find out how to change this faction for the life of me. I have tried everything. The @#%^ing GM's are ass holes and won't fix it for sh*t. If anybody finds out how to get the faction from apprehensive to anything greater. I would be very greatfull...
Though rarely slain, the PoD operates on Beta Neutral as well...in fact there was an incident a while ago where killing a mob lowered your BN faction which is something that never should happen. Anyway people who killed this mob were suddenly KOS to the PoD rofl...
Good Luck I did petition and was told bluntly good luck charlie youre on your own. He said they have never changed anyones faction. It's their in house policy not to help you. But when I asked for copy of that policy I was told it's not for the general public to see. Anon
Roror is now Allize Volew I think at least the lizzies that arent on the isle with the cazic temple, to raise faction with him go beserk on the little isle or in the temple ;)
If you have a friend who can cast invis on you help you, it possible to get the NPC in highkeep to take the stones from you. Give him the stone, but before clicking on the give button, have friend cast invis. on you.(will make you indiff) This will work with any NPC that doesnt like you too much
This works. I lost faction with the Dark Bargainers in Neriak by killing Raztaz too much. There was nothing to kill to raise the factionand simply doing quest would eat the quest item. I had a friend invis me after I initated the trade (red wine quest), then hit "trade" and it worked. Fixed my faction in no time.
Even ones like giving that erud in high hold keep the bloodstones or whatever don't work once you are apprehen. He disses me. I'm a druid so cant change form really and wolf form not help with him.
Shakeys scarecrow stuffing with roror was supposed to raise beta neutral at one time but didn't when i tried. Plus roror not beta now.
I even did part of enchanter quest that was supposed to raise beta and got dissed on that too. Now I cant do paw of oppalla quest in kerra at all even if I wanted to.
All this cause i killed the banished kerran once when kerra changed. Now it appears there is no way at all to raise beta neutral. I was indiff before killing it too. I'd advise everyone to do the things like giving the erud in high hold bloodstones and other things to raise beta, cause once apprehen you can't.
Ah more on this, Abashi (Gordin Wrinn) on the EQ message boards said to petition to fix this since no one creature should mess it up. I don't know if they changed the banished kerran lowering it or not, but i was set to indiff with beta neutral by the GM. I then raised it to high warmly just in case.
I was with a monk friend doing some quest in Kerra Isle with the kerrans. When he turned in his 4 items, he told me that he had gotten an increase in Beta Neutral. I also seem to remember one time playing around with a new character and turning in the Tome or Discord to the PoD. I was shocked to get a Beta Neutral increase in doing so. I am not sure if this is still true.
i know for a fact that if u kill lynada the exhiled in solusek a and turn in the pouch to Noreesa Sparkle in West Commons (if she takes it from you) that it will correct beta neutral faction
Yep, and don't kill the banished kerran or she will diss you when you try to do the quest with her.See banished kerran for more info on it there by me.
With the new faction changes after the latest patch, Roror is no longer neutral. I've tried approaching him as a high elf and as an ogre and have been killed on both occasions (I have previously completed the Shakey's stuffing quest three times with no problems)
If anyone has a clue as to what faction he falls under now, I'd appreciate finding out.
